you also have to discount things like speed, power, stamina, height, reach, strength, punch resistance...

skill is just an important aspect of what makes a person a good boxer.

The definition of skill is how that person uses an ability to achieve a task.

For technique it's a procedure to achieve a task.

Ability is using intelligence to achieve a task.

They are similar and connected to one another, but people get confused with these 3.

For example, Floyd uses many skills for his technique to be successful. To me Jermaine Taylor had more skills than Carl Froch, but Froch's technique proved too much for Taylor. Same with Curry vs Honeyghan.

That being said, I pick Martinez, Donaire, Floyd, Pacquiao, and Hopkins. Gamboa, Marquez, Vitali, Calderon, and Ward make up the top 10.

I would say skills is the learned part of the sport (technique, ring generalship, strategy, experience, etc)

Athleticism is the physical part of the sport (power, speed, strength, reflexes, height, reach, stamina, etc)

    ABILITY is the overall package.

Talent is the capacity to develop your abilities.

Would you guys consider Bernard talented? Plenty of people can train hard but a few are as smart as him in the ring.

I agree with Gamboa. I see some potential in him. When his amazing offense was on display against Solis, it was defense that impressed me the most and I think he can crack this list in a year or 2

I'm not sure that you understand the rankings. Floyd is the best at 147 because his last couple of fights were at that weight and because he beat the number one fighter in the division Mosley. A part from his wins at 147 (or around) Pac beat Marquez at 130, Hatton at 140 and Margo at 154 (more or less) and thus he earned his number one position in the p4p ranking.

Speaking of skill - what about Andre Ward? He can do anything those other fighters do and he can do it from both stances.

I think a poll like this is pure and utter nonsense by a ****ing ***** trying to pump their guy. Skill without speed power strength and absolute **** the most skilled fighter isnt necesarily the best fighter in the world.

 IDK about the first part, I'll stay out of it, but I agree with what I highlighted. Roy Jones I think wasn't the most skillful, but he had so much talent he could get away with so many things most couldn't and beat fighters much more skillful than himself. Martinez is one on that same path.
