EDIT: In case you are reading this and don't see the post date, this is from 1/19/12...

Here are the current Ring Magazine rankings as of 10/2/13:
    C- Adonis Stevenson
    1. Bernard Hopkins
    2. Sergey Kovalev
    3. Nathan Cleverly
    4. Chad Dawson
    5. Tavoris Cloud
    6. Karo Murat
    7. Tony Bellew
    8. Isaac Chilemba
    9. Juergen Braehmer
    10. Jean Pascal

    Below is my original post.

    ---

One calendar year from now, what will the Ring top 10, or 11 with the lineal title potentially in play, look like? Make some predictions too. I'll bump it in a year.

Rank them. If you don't want to go exactly by the Ring, then just go by what you believe the consensus opinion will be.

None of them have fought thus far into 2012. The current Ring top 10 as of 1/19/12:

    C- Bernard Hopkins
    1- Jean Pascal
    2- Tavoris Cloud
    3- Chad Dawson
    4- Nathan Cleverly
    5- Adrian Diaconu
    6- Zsolt Erdei
    7- Beibut Shumenov
    8- Karo Murat
    9- Gabriel Campillo
    10- Ismayl Silakh

    ---
    My prediction:

    C- Bernard Hopkins
    1- Chad Dawson
    2- Tavoris Cloud
    3- Nathan Cleverly
    4- Beibut Shumenov
    5- Ismayl Silakh
    6- Jean Pascal
    7- Karo Murat
    8- Isaac Chilemba
    9- Adrian Diaconu
    10- Eduard Gutknecht

-Despite me thinking Campillo is amongst the best, it is clear that he will never get decisions or respect, and if you predict him to lose to Cloud as I do, then he'd have to get ranked guys to face him afterwards, doubtful.
-I believe Pascal, Erdei, Braehmer, and Campillo will provide the best wins over the year.
-I think Hopkins fights once in the calender year against a respectable guy.
    -Expect big things from Silakh.
-I expect Cleverly and Shumenov to roll on and defend their titles.
-I think Dawson beats Pascal in a re-match. If somehow Hopkins steps up and re-matches Dawson, I predict Dawson to be the Lineal, Hopkins towards the top 1-3, and Pascal still up there. If that happens and Pascal fights two other opponents, I'll still predict he loses as long as they are amongst fellow top 10 guys.
-Gutknecht gets on due to steady and solid defenses of his EBU title. If he isn't on the list, I bet whoever defeats him is.
-Murat retains his positioning while fighting below average opposition. If he does step it up against a fellow top guy, I think he loses.

    1.Sillakh
    2.Dawson
    3.Hopkins
    4.Campillo
    5.Pascal
    6.Shumenov
    7.Cloud
    8.Cleverly
    9.Chilemba
    10. Johnson

I think Sillakh will become king this year, or atleast very close to it, hopkins loses to dawson but might beat a guy like cleverly so I think he will stick around.
Campillo is already beltholder level and prove it by having a great year.
Chilemba will get in the top 10 and johnson will move back to 175.

    Great thread man.

    C- Chad Dawson
    1- Ismayl Sillakh
    2- Beibut Shumenov
    3- Tavoris Cloud
    4- Jean Pascal
    5- Eduard Gutknect
    6- Isaac Chilemba
    7- Dmitry Sukhotsky
    8- Nathan Cleverly
    9- Karo Murat
    10- Tony Bellew

    *Key things*
    1. B-Hop to retire after suffering split decision loss to Chad Dawson
    2. Jean Pascal to lose to Ismayl
    3. Nathan Cleverly to stay in the top 10 without fighting any contenders, and keeps his title
    4. Shumenov to prosper with more experience

    Very good, I like.

I agree with Shumenov. I'm a big fan, and hope he gets big fights. I'm not really sure what's out there for him other than Erdei, Murat, or Braehmer (I hope he never talks to that ***** Juergen ever).

I think Cleverly is already consensus top 4-6 at LHW. I think he will maintain that by virtue of winning 3 fights, building towards a "super fight" with Froch coming up or something like that.

I agree with the Cleverly thing. By this time next year he will probably be 3-4. Kind of ranked them how I felt they should be ranked. But according to ring I can see Cleverly in the top 5 for sure. Also could see a Cleverly vs. Froch fight in the future. If Froch beat's Bute, then if I was Froch I would immediately move up to Light Heavyweight, and fight Cleverly for legacy purposes. Then I would like to see maybe Froch-Pascal II if Pascal beats Silaykh, and Froch beat Cleverly. Then the winner of that face Dawson for the universally recognized championship. This is all in my dreams!!

What about a rubbermatch vs Campillo?

I think for now Shumenov and Campillo should go different routes, they aren't going to get anywhere beating the crap out of each other in low money fights. Both fights were extremely close and great fights in my opinion, I just think they should break from fighting each other for a little, then comeback to it in the future.

I would like Shu/Cam III. They've each got one robbery each, 1-1.

Not sure the best future of Shumenov would be that route. As much as I believe in Shumenov, I'd probably pick Campillo. Plus, as the champion, I would expect his side to look for something else. Besides, if Campillo loses to Cloud, the excuse of him coming off a draw and defeat consecutively is right there.

Fair post but the rematch was not close at all, campillo won 8-2/9-3, there is no way that fight could have gone to shumenov or a draw.

-I juggled with Campillo's odds of winning the Cloud fight AND his ability to get somebody else to man up and fight him before years' end to re-establish himself into the top ten echelon. I think most people underrate him. I currently have him probably 5th, but most likely have him 8-10.

-Johnson moving back up to 175 is a good shout. I considered it heavily, but remembered he's coming off his elbow surgeries. Wouldn't be shocked if all he got was a small time FNF at the end of the year or something.

You can't ever count Johnson out. I would like to see Johnson vs Edison Miranda at 175 for Johnson's first light heavy fight back

I agree. I actually haven't seen the first but have heard that Shumenov should have won it and got hosed.

I gave it to Campillo 7-4-1. I thought it was exciting...

Round - Campillo - Shumenov II
    1 - 9 - 10
    2 - 10 - 10
    3 - 9 - 10
    4 - 10 - 9
    5 - 9 - 10
    6 - 10 - 9
    7 - 10 - 9
    8 - 10 - 9
    9 - 10 - 9
    10 - 9 - 10
    11 - 10 - 9
    12 - 10 - 9

If he could get Cleverly to agree later in the year, that would be a great fight for his legacy. I'd pick Johnson in that one too.

Miranda vs. Chilemba is going down. Miranda won't mean much after that, unless he wins (which I'd be surprised).

If Johnson can grab one more title I think he is a possible IBHOF candidate.

    Also see Chilemba beating Miranda
