nobody said it did, I'm just saying that an Irish Resident List would be equally interesting.

LL is a great example of this, born in London of Jamaican Immigrant parents, moved to Canada, learned his trade there and his early career there too, moved back to London.

so you could hardly call him a Jamaican fighter, both Canada and England dispute over his Boxing Identity, so again an Irish Resident List would be interesting.

Born and bred in Ireland or of Irish descent? I see very few names that have been offered that I would class as Irish, they are Irish American for the most part.
For example Jim Driscoll''s name has been mentioned,he had Irish lineage from one side of his family but was born ,raised ,and lived his entire life in Cardiff, Wales.
Mickey Walker? Is New Jersey in Ireland?

Wasn’t one of Muhammad Ali’s great grandfathers supposedly an Irishman who emigrated to the US in the late 19th century?

Born and raised should be the criteria or would you consider Mike Tyson the greatest boxer from the Congo?

You do realize geography has no impact on genetics, and barely any on culture, right?

And yet, we all know you would have never tried saying something like that in Jersey during the 80's or before. Definitely not in Walker's day.

No one really cares where Black people are from. Even Black people can't tell you. They might name some African ethnic group, but that's about it.

People actually care about being Irish.

I would love to see anyone of youse tell these guys they weren't Irish. It would go over famously. I would recommend you wear orange while doing it, too. Don't worry. You'd be fine.

Well his name is Driscoll. How are you supposed to read that and assume he's from Wales or Welsh? Who even admits to being Welsh? No one. Why couldn't any Welshmen in his day step up and take over Boxing for Wales? Clearly none could.

The whole point of Boxing as a sport is because England invaded Ireland and wrecked absolute havoc. Boxing and Wrestling were used to settle local disputes and the Irish brought these sports abroad. You need Irish people to leave Ireland to have Boxing and Wrestling as we know it. Same with Baseball, too, and to some degree football and bowling.

Without the Irish leaving Ireland, the world would only be playing gay sports like soccer, cricket and rugby. Why even have men in that case?

Yeah, but I also know that most of the time when someone says "what country are you from?" they want to know what country you're from, they're not asking about your genetics or culture.

Fitz wasn't Irish, never claimed to be Irish.

Most wouldn't count him Irish and I'd guess he was among that number.
