Well I agree about the jab being possibly the best ever AND the lack of earlier aggression in his latest fights.

Keep in mind that 2 of his losses are blamed on "shootting his load" too early in the fight & when you're 6'6½" and 245 lbs. it takes a lot of oxygen to feed the extremities. Meaning of course that he doesn't want to risk losing EVER again.

I must admit Wlad could use some work with infighting but why "fix" his style if it works for him? Most of the same people saying he should go for it early really want him to lose anyway. Get my point?

Ward will beat AA, and I like both fighters but I'm being realistic. I think Ward will beat Froch too.

If Wlad retired right now I'd have Tyson ranked above him on my All Time list of Heavys.

Head to head, prime for prime? I think 75-25% chance Wladimir KO's Mike late, around the 10th after battering him around the ring for the first half of the fight. I do think Mike would land & maybe knock Wladimir down once or twice. I mean, Mike was fast & powerful, but he'd be spending the fight trying to get in range & Wladimir has excellent footwork and accuracy. How's Mike going to throw those combos at a guy who has a great, heavy hitting jab & a 10-11" reach advantage to go with a 9" height advantage?

dude, peak tyson knocks out peak vlad.

peak vitali would stand a decent chance though - iron chin and we now know that tysons entire dominance went out of the window as soon as a fighter forced him to fight going backwards - that was holyfields and lewis' game plan from re-watching the douglas fight.

Excellent post. I do think Vitali, while not necessarily being a great athlete, due to his size, skillset and intangibles could be competitive in any era.

I also believe that Haye possess the speed, power, and athleticism of a great athlete, and he will expose Wlad for the fraud he is AGAIN.

If only Haye had a heart though...

    We shall soon find out.

If Haye was confident as you are in his abilities he'd have signed to fight one of them already...................

That's the cold, hard truth. :deal

LIke I said, Prime Tyson might have some early success against Wlad but be rest assured, Wlad would have Mike going backwards most of the fight.

All I can say is, ..."there's something about her". She transcends Hollywood. She's an icon. The face of a generation.

Yeah, I understand why Wlad fights the way he does. He's trying to extrapolate all the odds in his favor. It may make the fighter longer and more boring but he's upping his chance of victory. I also get that he's a little bit mindful of his stamina.

It's like what Tyson said this week on Larry King. Sometimes people confuse good and entertaining. They're competent fighters, but they don't entertain me. Vitali seems to be a bit more active with his output. Maybe he just has superior lung capacity/stamina. I'm not sure. He might be a little tougher than his younger brother. At the same time, though. I still don't know he can't throw a right hand for so long. The man's dead game in front of him. He should've taken Chambers out way earlier than he had. There's safety, and then there's overcautious, especially when a fighter isn't much of a threat.

You're correct on this, at least we can agree on some things.

You do realize a lot of people would think this is insane. All these measurements of height and reach advantages are moot since Tyson went against 6'5/6'6 guys with this could of range all the time. None of them wanted to engage with him. I don't think Wlad's footwork is excellent, that's why he clinches a lot, even Sam Peter who has got some of the slowest feet out there. Wlad literally starts to panic when Chageov and Peters go after him... I don't see how he can deal with Tyson.

While Wlad might not have been at his best you must think he got exponentially better since the first Sam Peter fight. Because Sam Peter is really pretty dreadful in comparison to Tyson. I don't have to mention Corrie Sanders either really.

I'm just not seeing it. Maybe you're not seeing the same weaknesses I see Wlad have. Guess we have to agree to disagree.
