i think a prime Nigel Benn beats Toney, and Calzaghe , would push Hopkins very close if not win , and would probably lose to Jones , just
Nigel Benns style is just right for Toney. Toney wouldn't be bothered by Benns power, and he would pick him apart and stop him in the late rounds. Ok, a prime Benn could maybe decision Toney if James has an off-night and didn't prepare well, like he sometimes did. Styles make fights. I think Chris Eubank would give Toney a much tougher fight than Benn would.
Toney would roll that right hand of Benn all night an then come up with quick, accurate combinations to the body and head. Benn's style is taylor made for Toney.
If Benn fights Toney in the same ultra-aggressive manner that he fought Watson, he absolutely gets torn to shreds by Toney. If Benn is more controlled, like for instance when he drew with Eubank in the rematch, then he should fare better, although I still think he loses. This is of course assuming Toney is on his game.
Prime H2H RJJ Calzaghe Toney/Hopkins ---I don't see hopkins beating any, he struggles with high volume fighters, and toney in his prime is just a good a counter puncher as hopkins. Legacy wise Hopkins Calzaghe RJJ Toney ---This is for a few reasons, I think Hopkins will pick up a cruiser belt and retire on top, i think rjj will carry on fightin an lose too many. note, if rjj retires after tarver 1 he goes top by a very long way
It's not a respectable list if that's not the case, IMHO. I'd personally have: RJJ Hopkins Toney Calzaghe Don't really have an issue with someone putting Toney ahead of Hopkins, although I just don't see it personally.
