No, it's about fat. You don't seek out Dominick Guinn to prove your 'skills'.

You sure as hell don't seek out Peter Manfredo to prove your skills.

And when someone in this thread holds up Peter Manfredo as an example of Calzaghe's pre-eminence over any of the other named fighters you can surely taunt them with that fact...

Now for me this is one of the most illogical and desperate arguments Calzaghe fans use when making excuses for his weak resume.

So Hopkins and RJJ were too scared to fight Calzaghe when they were at the peak of their careers, yet were willing to fight him when they got old and started losing:huh

to be fair, at that stage in their respective careers, calzaghe was THE man not hopkins and jones........ they needed him as much as the other way round, back in the day they didn't need calzaghe cause no one knew the guy.

    Year for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

plus calzaghe was no spring chicken by then

Also is a well known fact that bhop was supposed to fight joe cal in 2002 but doubled his purse demands at the last second and instead of earning 5 mill earned 500 k and fought carl daniels :patsch

Funny how all the bhop fans conviently forget that point when mention calzaghe and also if you think there fight was argueable then you obviously blind.

bhop won the first round then spoilt for the rest of the fight out punched and out landed every round.

The aim of the game is to land punches in the scoring area and calzaghe easily out pointed hopkins, and by the 8th round hops was blowing out his arse.

Yes, thats true. But Calzaghe could (and should) have put himself in that position much earlier on in his career and these fights could have been made.

Are you talking about H2H or about resume?

Cause I am happy to have Toney ahead of Calzaghe on resume. Depending on how you look at losses, how you look at wins, how you look at moving up in weight - these are all weighed differently by different people. Do you give Bhop more credit for his longevity or Toney more credit for fighting at Heavy? How long is a piece of string?

But H2H? Toney proved he could lose, and lose to mediocre opponents. The other three just didn't have that counting against them. He has to come last as the only proven loser.

Toney's resume is pretty impressive. I don't know why he'd be last in that category.

No matter what criteria you use, I do no think anyone can reasonably argue to rank JC above Toney in terms of legacy.

Calzaghe is a low ranked ATG but his resume is not strong enough to rank him above Toney. Consistency and a long reign only go so far. He should have come to the US earlier to improve his legacy. A guy like Froch tries to do it.Wins over Lacy, Kesssler and 2 over 40year old do not carry the day.
