I have a time consuming project for anyone willing. What are the records of the above fighters vs. each other in the 80's?

80's Heavyweights Head to Head. I've included a few 90's fights but only early decade, like Tyson-Douglas, Douglas-Holyfield, Tyson-Ruddock, etc.

    1. Mike Tyson
    2. Evander Holyfield
    3. Tony Tucker (underrated - great fighter!)
    4. Michael Spinks
    5. Larry Holmes (past prime but still one of the best)

The other guys on your list are good/decent fighters that are not at the level of the top 5 above.

If you're super impressed by Tucker on film, check out Page, Dokes, Spoon, and Thomas. Those four guys all look a little sharper, make for better fights and more importantly than that actually have intensity compared to Tucker.
Tucker was a good fighter no doubt but I feel he gets over rated compared to other 80's titlists because he's one of the only ones people have actually seen in action.. Greg Page would have made mincemeat out of him at his best I think

Thanks Sangria! This adds a lot to this thread. I wish you would have cut off the records in the 1980's. You did list some 1990's data.

Having said that using this data, either Holmes or Tyson are the obvious choices for #1 and #2 ( some of Holmes best stuff in in the 70's ), and Witherspoon at 6-3 vs. a fine group should be the #3 man.

Tyson - I rate him over Holmes due to his style would beat Holmes about everytime
Holmes - Beats everyone in the 80s except Tyson
Holyfield - had not peaked yet, toughest SOB of all
Witherspoon - Huge under achiever, good punch, chin & defense
Weaver - Great punch, suspect chin, over acheiver, nice guy, good jab
Thomas - great jab, good chin, blew it big time
Spinks - I still Spinks was at the right place at the right time & that's about it
Page - Excellenat natural talent, was a slob, blew it
Coetzee - fought lots of tough guys, won some lost some, scary right hand
Dokes - excelllent speed, though seemed to have alligater arms, dope head

That's because Tucker was just another drug addict whose reflexes were ruined by his habbit , like McCall , Thomas and then some.
Although he wasn't fat , like Holmes , Page , Douglas , and then some.

No problem. Yeah, I did add a few from 1990-1991 that I couldn't resist. I was surprised that most of the bunch had sub .500 records against each other. The only ones coming out ahead were Tyson, Holmes, Spoon, Holyfield, Ruddock, Douglas, and Damiani was 1-0 by only fighting Biggs.

Tucker was nice, but Page at his best would probably stop him. That knee injury and drug problem destroyed whatever momentum Tucker had built up.He should've been a contender by the end of '83, if everything was right.
