i seriously dont see how holyfield can be higher than lewis. Lewis proved that he was greater by beating him and beating every opponent he stepped in with.

It doesnt go by win stats and who beat who.

Holyfield: Overcame size disadvantages, four time title holder (argueably 5). Beat Bowe, Foreman, Holmes, Tyson, Douglas, Moorer, etc.

Tyson: Youngest heavyweight champion, last to unify all three titles separately to this day. Two time champ. Beat linear champ Spinks, Holmes, Tucker, Tubbs, Thomas, Bruno, Ruddock x2 etc. Lost to Douglas in a shocking defeat, but still beat a wide variety of stylists and former champs, using a brawling style.

Lewis: Three time champ, unified his one title with Holyfields two belts. Lost to two mid level contenders by knockout. Beat a very similarly skilled group of flawed fighters with mediocre boxing skills. Briggs, Rahman, Mercer, Golota, Grant, Tua, etc. Beat Vitali K on cuts while trailing on the cards. Never faced and defeated other titlists in his group. Byrd, Wlad Klitschko, John Ruiz.

Tyson beat Ruddock twice before Lewis did, also Tucker. Lewis struggled with the likes of Bruno and Mercer, thats why I have him ranked last.

All three are relatively close, but this is how and why I rank them.

and if Lewis would have fought Holyfields comp, he would have been retired by 1993. He couldnt even get by Mcall went life and death with Bruno, and Mercer.

    Tough call IMO.

Yes, Lewis went 1-0-1 vs. Holyfield and 1-0 (1) vs. Tyson but we all know that he didn't face either one of them at their best.

    Lewis vs.

Holyfield I- D12 but many felt Lewis should have won, Holyfield had turned pro 15 years prior and was 37 years old.

Holyfield II- W12 but some felt Holyfield won or that the fight was a draw.

I think prime vs. prime Holyfield wins. A past prime Holyfield lost a very close (and to some questionable) fight to a prime Lewis in the rematch.

Tyson- KO8 but Tyson was well past prime

I'm really not sure what would happen prime vs. prime. Tyson wasn't able to do much vs. Lewis when they did fight.

I can see Holyfield being ranked above Lewis based off of the above info but with Tyson it's total speculation.

    Anyway, here goes...

    1. Holyfield- won his first 10 fights at HW, 8 by KO. In these 10 fights he beat Tillis KO5, Thomas KO7 (former WBC Champ), Dokes KO10 (former WBA Champ), Rodrigues KO2, Stewart KO8, McDonagh KO4 (for Christmas money), Douglas KO3 (Undisputed Champ), Foreman W12 (Hall of Famer), Cooper KO7, and Holmes W12 (Hall of Famer). During this undefeated stretch he went 4-0 (2) in HW World Title Fights. He was the Undisputed HW Champ. He did not lose a pro fight until after his 30th birthday... so I'm not sure why people say he was inconsistent? He did a lot more after this point but he was past prime.

Overall he went 11-7-2 (5) in HW World Title Fights, 4 of 20 HW World Title Fights were past age 40 and 11 of these fights were past age 35. Again, all of the losses are past age 30. He beat more Lineal HW Champs than anybody in history (7)... Joe Louis beat 5 btw (Sharkey, Carnera, Baer, Braddock, and Walcott). Holyfield beat Douglas, Foreman, Holmes, Bowe, Moorer, Tyson, and Rahman. He was not stopped inhis prime but was stopped twice in 55 fights.

He had already gone 18-0 (14) at CW overall and 6-0 (5) in CW World Title Fights. He was the Undisputed CW Champ.

    2. Lewis- went 16-2 (11) in HW World Title Fights and beat 4 Lineal HW Champs (Briggs, Holyfield, Rahman, and Tyson). He was stopped twice in his prime but did avenge both losses.

    3. Tyson- it's easy to imagine a prime Lewis stopping Lewis but I can't imagine him stopping Holyfield. I do think prime vs. prime Lewis beats Tyson more times than not... same for Holyfield (plus Holyfield doesn't get stopped). Tyson went 12-4 (10) in HW World Title Fights. He was stopped 5 times.

Prime Lewis beats Prime Holyfield's opposition.

Foreman was too slow, Bowe was beaten before he got in the ring, Holmes - please....., Cooper punchers chance but didn't like being hit.

A haymaker from McCall on a pre prime Lewis didn't retire him how the he'll does the above list???

No version of Lewis would lose to Bowe, Moorer, Ruiz, Toney, Donald, Ibragimov or Valuev.

I dont think Lewis could beat Tyson in 91, Evander or Bowe in 92, based on how he struggled with fighters a tier lower.

91' Tyson? You mean when Lewis was still coming up the ranks fighting Biggs, McCrory and Weaver? Hope you didn't bust a nut figuring that one out.

92 Lewis still didn't have a world title and was green as hell, too green for Holyfield but Bowe? Prime Bowe ducked a green Lewis because he was **** scared and when that's the case it's an easy nights work.

So Lewis fought down to the level of his opposition sometimes, and? How many places down the ATG list do you have Ali due to Wepner and the mighty Spinks?
