I suppose we are talking about Ali here? 1 ) Ali did not look good vs Bonevena, but he did stop him in the 15th round after a long layoff from the ring. That's why I'm placing it on top. Bonevena was durable and had decent power. 2 ) Quarry lost quickly due to a cut. If not for the cut, Quarry could have made this a tough fight. 3 ) Mathis was a big man ( fat at 256 pounds ) with decent skills who could box. This is one of the few Ali fights I have not seen. Is it out there? 4 ) Folley was passed his best at age 35 and was never puncher. Ali at the time of this fight was in his absolute prime.
The Mathis fight is on YouTube. It's a boring fight for the most part; Ali is much too quick for Buster and dances rings around him. By the end Ali has tired Mathis out to the extent that he should have stopped him (he drops him multiple times and Mathis is clearly exhausted) but Ali doesn't really want it. The most notable aspect of the fight is how solid Ali looked at 227. Most of the time he looked flabby above 220 or so, but here he looks good. If he was around today that would be his fighting weight.
