That's a tough question... there are major differences in divisions and at the stage of their career and skill solely doesn't always win fights. So based solely on skills, maybe this would be the right rank:

    Ivan Calderon
    Joan Guzman
    JMM
    Christian Mijares
    Martin Castillo
    Paulie Malignaggi

    the rest is tough
-it’s too early to rank Berto and Juanma as they have to show their skills against A level opposition
-Quintana is skilled but it’s hard to rank him correctly as he couldn’t really use his skills in the Cotto fight to make it competitive
-Donaire is skilled but he’s success is based more on his physical strength (which is a skill too but his overall skill level is not that high)

Among these fighters, the guy who impressed me the most lately has been Cristian Mijares.

I agree with your post. I wanted to list more of the defensive minded (or outboxers) type of skilled fighters.

Very nice list Brooklyn, thanks. I agree with Mijares being interchangeable with Marquez.
