For me, the top 2 are very close together & the 3rd & 4th place are very close together.... but there is a gap between 2nd & 3rd.....

    Hearns
    Arguello
    De la hoya
    Lewis

Who agrees ?... disagrees ? :smoke

I think I have Arguello above Tommy...maybe not but they are very close.

I have Hoya above Lewis and agree that there is a big gap between 1-2 and 3-4.

Yes, Arguello & Hearns was my hardest choice + I really like both of them, they likely make my top 10 favourite fighters so there is no favouritism when comparing both.

I think Hearns fought a little better comp but Arguello had more fights....
Tommy is a 6 weight world champion (nobody has done that yet IMO as DLH lost to Sturm in my eyes) & Alexis a 3 weight champ.

Both had awesome right hands & were excellent KO artists, AA was the patient, precision puncher, very textbook... TH was a beautiful fluid & very fast boxer, not just for his size but just outright fast as ****.

Both could & did go to war many times....

Tommy did lose twice in his prime but who`s to say Arguello would have fared any better vs MMH & SRL if he were the same weight ?
Arguello had a few early losses & a 1 or 2 slip ups even in his prime albeit in non-title fights.

Hearns produced a boxing masterclass to beat a great fighter in Benitez clearly, KOd the un-KOable Duran in 2, same with Cuevas & should have got the verdict vs SRL in the 2nd fight.
Arguello has his share of good fighters on his list too, Olivares probably being the best but when I weigh everything up & think real hard about it, I have to give Hearns the edge.

    :good

I'd have Arguello above Hearns, but they're close.

Had a quick gander at my alltime list...which probably needs another update and review anyway.

But I have Alexis 28 and Tommy 29...Couldnt barely split them.

Lewis - beat every man he faced, faced practically everyone in the toughest division, combined power, technique, boxing ability and proved victorious against every style in a very deep era
Hearns - arguably top 3 head to head at 147-154, such a talented freak of a boxer puncher with technique, speed, movement, however lost his biggest fights
Delahoya - 6weight titlist, fought a massive array of talent, didnt do as well against the best of the best as the other 2
Arguello - a little less complete as a boxer compared to the other 3 and his footwork and speed let him down against the very best

are you still running with this? He is one of the most COMPLETE fighters of all time. He made up for his lack of footspeed and movement with impeccable timing (possibly the greatest of all time) and lack of handspeed with unbelievable precision (possible the greatest of all time)

One of the most technically adept fighters of all time, coupled with an amazing boxing brain, unshiftable will, power that spanned four weights and power in both hands.

    You are an idiot :good

    Arguello
    Hearns
    Lewis
    Delahoya

Tommy is not that far behind Arguello, but I'd still put him first in this group. Delahoya is last because he chose to avoid rematches with his toughest competition. At least Lennox Lewis avenged the Oliver McCall and Rahman losses. He probably should have fought Tyson earlier in his career, and he loses points for not getting a fight done with Riddick Bowe.

Lennox Lewis has had one, questionable decision which was the second Holyfield fight. I believe he was awarded that fight because everyone knows Eugenia Williams ridiculous scorecard from the first fight has no business in boxing..

Delahoya has multiple controversial decisions on his record where he was affected from both viewpoints. Clearly, Delahoya was robbed against Trinidad, but had no business winning the Whitaker, Quartey and Sturm fights. At the very least, Delahoya should have given rematches to the above three, especially considering he demanded a rematch with Chavez after beating him clearly. Delahoya doesn't get my vote for Canastota based on these principles alone, clearly showing that his reputation was protected.

I think Hearns is one of the most underrated fighters in history.

Also, why are people labelling DLH a 6 weight champ, he lost to Sturm & Hopkins..... HEARNS is the only 6 weight champ in boxing history, or do people forget this ?
He won a world title in the 147, 154, 175, 160, 168 & 190 lb classes in that exact order.
