    Arguello
    Hearns
    Lewis
    Hoya

P.S. It erks me when people rank Hearns outside the Top 30. Can you really name 30 guys better than Hearns???

The bottom line is his ponderous footwork, slow hands/punch recoil led to him getting outboxed a fair few times. The other 4 boxers in this thread don't have those same weakness and are less prone to being outboxed

Ofcourse Arguello is a beast and such a natural puncher however I still fancy DLH to win a UD over him at 140

    Arguello
Hearns (the top two are basically a toss up)
    De la Hoya
    Lewis

De la Hoya's absurdly deep resume and lower weight dominance compensates for the fact Lewis lost fewer fights. I'll give you guys the Sturm robbery, so long as he gets the credit back the Trinidad and Mosley II fights that Oscar rightfully won. :deal

    Its tough to say

Oscar was the more refined boxer yet at above 147 he stopped impressing. Hearns, if he would have had a better chin would have been almost perfect. Arguello was a class fighter. Lewis only started to impress late in his career against a weak division.

If we rate them in terms of skills and athleticism would be the most fair in that too many variabales come into play.

    1.Hearns
    2. Oscar
    3. Arguello
    4. Lewis

I dont see how Lewis can compares to the other fighters he only had about 3 quality opponents

I hardly consider his work at 190 legitimate.

I think it has little relevance in this discussion.

How does anyone justifiably rank De la Hoya above Lewis?

Oscar de la Hoya has proven himself an all time earner, and an all time head to head spoil. De la Hoya never proved himself to be an all time great at any weight. Lewis did.

(I have recently moved Oscar up my personal rankings quite a bit after watching a lot of his fights from the 90s. I had been underrating him I think. There's virtually nothing between him and Lewis IMO, but I give a razor-thin edge to Oscar at the moment)

DLH has to be penalized for losing his biggest fights, in my estimation. Even if you thought he beat Trinidad and Mosley in their rematch, he came out on the losing end. Vargas was damaged goods by the time those two met, and Chavez was shot to peices. DLH should have been shot for even rematching the old man.

Outside of his losses, Vargas and Chavez? His only real outstanding win is against Ike, a decision many people dispute. I don't hate on DLH, I actually quite like him and the first thing I did when he got beat by Pacquiao was make him a highlight video on youtube. I think he has a stellar resume, one of the best in the last 25 years. But when we're discussing who beat who, you have to rank Lewis above him in my opinion.

Have you actually undergone therapy to block out the very existence of Manny Pacquiao?

    Flyweight, super-bantamweight, featherweight, super-featherweight, lightweight, light-welterweight.

Yes, at featherweight he "only" won The Ring title (by beating peak Marco Antonio Barrera).

Are you going to tell me that is less legitimate than Hearns winning the WBU cruiserweight title by beating Lenny LaPaglia, or winning the IBO cruiserweight title by beating Nate Miller?

    Recognize the man.
