No he doesnt have his way with any of today's welterweight crop, this is just another way of people overrating the **** out of him. Ike was never at any moment in his career considered a top 5 p4p fighter. His fight with jose luis lopez was virtually even and he struggled with the guy, yet we are supposed to believe he beats all of today's welterweights. Paul Williams would school him, floyd would beat him, cotto and clottey both have decent shots. Ike was just a belt holder, hes no great.

Lennox Lewis could have made middleweight, or super-middleweight, or light-heavyweight???

Pass it on after you've finished....

Ike Quartey > Carlos Quintana...I dont even see the Williams fight being competitive.

As for Clottey and Cotto..they have virtually no shot. Have you seen these guys fight? They can barely handle 12 rounds against each other..Ike would have jabbed them into oblivion.

I think stylistically Floyd could knock him off...But if he had trouble with the size and jab of old man Oscar, then I can imagine Ike giving him hell aswell. ..Floyd just isnt that good at welter..not anything near his very impressive 130 form.

He was just a titlist..and I never said he was a great. But being a titlist in that era means you were a bloody good fighter because that was a strong period for the division.

part of my criteria is overall ability(40%) and lennox is a legit top 5 h2h in the richest division in boxing history.

wow pick one loss where he avenges and use that as your basis right, awesome analysis. Cotto and clottey have no shot, lol ike quartey being overrated is clearly shown in these statements.

No he could have picked on them by making them move up. Alot of guys oscar beat pre 1996, were naturally 2-3 weight classes smaller than him, so he could boost his resume. Iether way many posters here are picking oscar as last which it should be. lennox Lewis is arguable top 5 heavyweight, oscar isnt top 5 anything, except being a pretty boy.

Works both ways...You jump on the fact Quartey had one average performance in earning a draw but I cant use a fight where Paul was clearly beaten to prove my point?

He avenged it but the first one is the more definitive of because he got well outboxed and at times beaten up by a decent but not particularly exceptional contender.
**** happens...fighters come in cold and get blown out sometimes...Id be interested to see a rubber match there.

Ok the Margartio fight then...he only just won that.

Yes they have no shot...NO SHOT..They arent as good as Ike. Clottey can barely throw 10 punches a round without going back into his shell and Cotto has shown his limitations in durability and stamina.
Both would get dealt with by Ike...put your house on it.

Boxrec cant tell you everything mate..you have to actually watch these fights. And before you come back with "oh but I have seen heaps of Quartey"..If you honestly had, we wouldnt be arguing whether Joshua Clottey or Miguel Cotto could have beaten him...It would be pretty obvious to you.

We know you don't care about my opinions, no need to reiterate it in every post that you make that refers to me.

Speculative at best. Lennox looked horrible and a Rahman/McCall moment could easily have been right around the corner.

Aren't the experts the guys that decide history? History will tell you that Ike Quartey was a better fighter than David Tua and Vitali Klitscko :good

If he weight drained himself to the point where he couldn't even throw a punch like DLH did, I bet even someone like a fat slob Toney would KO him, let alone the current best fighter in the game. Lewis never took a sustained beating, his chin gave up way too early for that.

How were they flukes? Because Lewis was outboxing them? Lewis had chin issues, face it.

I agree. But I don't agree anything would have happened other than Lewis receiving another punch and getting floored for good. He was wobbling all over the place and could hardly stand up.

Lewis would have loved to pick on the smaller blokes from the smaller divisions, but none were up for fighting him. Not to worry though he picked on many guys that were smaller than him in his own division. he outweighed nearly every opponent he ever faced. :good

Jose Luis Lopez could surf and smoke pot for training in lead ups to fights with Clottey and Cotto and he would still beat the **** out of them. Ike would toy with them both.

No I dont think history will say ike is better than Vitali, lol. Vitali has a better chance at making the hall of fame, quartey will be left out and he doesnt deserve to be in it anyways.

Joe Luis Lopez would beat the **** out of both cotto and clottey, lol ok there old school biased geezer.

Lopez retired in 2005 you numskull.

Stop pretending like you have actually seen any of his fights...Because if you had you wouldnt be trying to throw out weak arguments against him beating Cotto or Clottey.
