 I'm thinking Vic is joking, but, well,...you never really know.

Aye, but if there were an Internet boxing forum, back in the day, you know I'd be all about Zucchero Primo, the giant Sullivan...

Well, the Real Sugar was......SPCTAA, undisputed champion.....
Not the other Sugar with those tendentious videos on youtube, misleading new fans of the sport.....

Anyway...two of them were linear champions Professor....

Actually....The real question is not a joke.......

The thread about Dempsey vs Willard make me think....in my opinion the two linear champions were the worst of the bunch.....
I would rate Layne, Bonavena and Shavers higher than Carnera and Briggs....I don´t know what´s the general opinion on this....

ps- I always think Carnera wasn´t so bad as people make him to be......

    Bonavena
    Shavers
    Carnera
    Layne
    Briggs
I think either Bonavena or Shavers would have knocked out Carnera

Rex Layne is being hugely under rated here I think - this was a man who was being viewed as the next heavyweight champion was favourite going into his fight with Marciano and scored wins over Jersey Joe Walcott and Ezzard Charles two of the best heavyweight champs of all time on the basis of winning a slugfest with Bob Satterfield I'd tend to favour him over Earnie Shavers on this list certainly - Layne was a top prospect?

Primo Carnera-A World Champion with an underrated resume and technical ability.

    Rex Layne
Oscar Bonavena-Layne has the better resume but both are the same level of tough contender/gate keeper. Both troubled or even upset greats.

    Earnie Shavers
Shannon Briggs-Limited guys who could hit and had one or two good nights. I don't recognize Briggs claim as Champion, that "win" over Foreman doesn't amount to much anyway.

I'd question whether we could say Briggs was 'actually champ'? The version that gave Lennox Lewis an exciting fight I dare say could give it a spirited go against the rest on the list but I think would fall short - at his younger peak he was short on real experience or pedigree and struggled with an old old old Foreman so I can't really see him as good enough to be better than anyone else on the list on their best nights so I'm afraid Shannon would be at the foot of the list tbh
