I think as far as 1-shot power is concerned Oscar is better than Mosley. Hes topped most of their common opponents a lot faster than Shane did. What made Shane special was his handspeed. That, and the fact Oscar's right hand was underpowered. DLH's left hook might have been able to decapitate a statue, but his right hand power was lacking (even though by the time he got to 154, his right hand was quick, accurate, had good timing, and could be used as a solid lead, counter shot, or part of a combo, it never had stopping power on its own; it was mainly to set up the left.) Mosley was a hard puncher with both hands and had ATG handspeed. Oscar had ATG power in his left hand, decent at best power in his right, and very good handspeed.
1) Thomas Hearns 2) Sugar Ray Robinson 3) Pipino Cuevas 4) Roberto Duran 5) Sugar Ray Leonard 6) Felix Trinidad 7) Oscar De La Hoya 8) Shane Mosley 9) Henry Armstrong 10) Julio Cesar Chavez You could make an argument for DLH, Trinidad, or SRL being in any of spots 5-7. Ultimately, I ranked SRL highest because he was naturally the biggest of the three and seemed to carry his power up the best. I ranked Trinidad #6 for the same reason; he was naturally bigger than Oscar and demolished Joppy even at 160. Mayorga said in an interview once that Oscar hit harder than Trinidad, and while I think their power level is very similar, I'll give the edge to Trinidad in brute force. Meanwhile, JCC ranks last on this list because his best work was at 130-135. He was still an ATG at 140, but he's not really rankable at 147. He was too small and too old at that weight. Similarly, Armstrong's power was much greater at 126 and 135.

Florentino Fernanedz was a hell of a puncher. He should be anybody top ten list of middleweight punchers. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=10924&cat=boxer
Ricardo Pajarito Moreno belong in any top ten feathweight list http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=2649&cat=boxer
That's close, but I think Duran was the harder puncher. He didn't have the same handspeed Leonard did, nor did he have quite the same explosiveness at 147 that he did at 135 (whereas Leonard did have plenty of explosiveness at 147.) Leonard had solid power, but what really made him devastating at 147 was his sharpness, handspeed, and explosiveness at that weight. I believe Duran has naturally heavier hands than Leonard and hits harder, and had to increasingly rely on timing, accuracy, and skill to make up for his reduced explosiveness/handspeed as he went up in weight, whereas Leonard was still able to wield impressive handspeed and explosiveness as he went up in weight. In my opinion, Leonard's handspeed and explosiveness contributed more to his stoppage wins at 147+ than brute power alone did. I think Duran had more brute power, but the decline of his handspeed and explosiveness made it more difficult for him to demonstrate that later in his career. Was Leonard a more EFFECTIVE puncher than Duran at 147? Arguably yes. But in terms of brute power, I think not. It's the same reason I rated Trinidad above Oscar; Trinidad had more brute power, and this is a brute power question. I feel Oscar was a more effective puncher at 147 than Trinidad though because DLH possessed greater handspeed and explosiveness than Tito.
Trinidad got a lot of cans during his 147 pound run. His competition quality wasn't nearly as impressive as Duran, Leonard, etc. If you want to rate Trinidad's power because he destroyed a bunch of cans for most of the 90s (and somehow managed to not fight Whitaker, Quartey, etc despite being at 147 for the better part of the 90s), be my guest. If Trinidad had KO'd DLH or demolished some iron-chinned guys at 147, I'd be able to rate him higher. But he didn't. Leonard and Duran had more consistently proven power at the elite level.
Anybody who thinks 180 pound Rocky Marciano could punch harder than Lennox Lewis is either ****ing mentally ******ed or a ****ing racist.
