Without proper analysis and comparison, I guess I'd have it:

1. Mayweather
2. Crawford
3. Marciano
4. Ward
5. Calzaghe
6. Lopez

I'll wait a few years before evaluating Crawfords all time standing, whilst I dont think there's much to chose between Ward and Calzaghe.

I'm clear in my own mind that Mayweather> Marciano> Ward/Calzaghe> Lopez.

 

The other names don't belong in the same sentence as Marciano

I just read that Crawford is retiring. If that is the case, I am going to down grade him slightly based on lack of quality competition. So, my rankings would now be:

I almost always agree with you but I can't see Crawford over Marciano, or even Calzaghe. I found his performances impressive but not his career.

As mentioned, I won't do a deep dive analysis on Crawford's career, comparing it to others from an historical perspective, for at least a couple of years, so won't argue his position too hard until I do.

At a high level, 5 x divison world titlest, including 3 x weight division world champion, unbeaten, with wins over the best 2 x WWs in the world aside from himself and the lineal SMW champion, who whilst clearly past prime was still ranked #6 p4p going into the fight, will probably stack up pretty well historically.

My primary reaction to your post, though, is one of shock. Not only have you ranked Marciano above another fighter, that fighter is both modern and clearly much more "fast twitch" .

3-5 are razor close.

Any list without Mayweather at 1 should be moved to a different sub forum, such as the Lounge.

 

Canelo has looked ordinary for years, a cash cow who himself was carefully guided and forgiven the occasional misstep for which others would have been banned. I bet $500 on Crawford beating and am not a rich man, certainly wasn't at the time. Those were just silly odds. Canelo was a one shot guy who took too long to pull the trigger and stayed on line when not throwing.

The Spence win was again a great performance but Errol hasn't seemed the same since his car accident. Indongo has proven to be mediocre at best. Porter was in his final fight. Madrimov fought Bud very close but really hasn't panned out to be anything since. Yeah, I just don't see a lot of there there.

Don't confuse my disdain for Marciano fanatics with a disdain for Marciano the fighter. He was an animal, a rare animal. And he stacked all the names available like cord wood while keeping busy. And yeah, he most often did it in emphatic fashion.

 

Crawford & Ward over Marciano is ridiculous.
