I rate Mayweather as one of the top ten fighters of all time and Ray somewhere near that but I put Ray top because of his opposition and Floyd second. Manny 3rd and last place to Roy.
I know right! I feel Ray would have done better vs Griffin than Roy did...or do you think I am being to simplistic or harsh?
I think Leonard's acheivements get a bit overstated. Jones had some very good wins like over Toney, had success up a lot of weights, and looked amazing. Don't get me wrong, I don't think there's much in it, but I gave the edge to Jones.
1. Ray Leonard He beat a top 3 lightweight, a top 3/5 Middleweight and a top 10 welterweight. And those 3 fighters are all in my top 50 pfp ever. He has a few other good wins like Benitez and Kalule. 2. Floyd Mayweather Jr Good wins against two top 10 welterweights, (Pac and Del a Hoya) but not as impressive as Leonard vs Hagler. Great looking résumé and a defence Specialist 3. Manny Pacquiao Only slightly behind Mayweather in résumé, 2 wins over a top 10 lightweight (Marquez) and obviously the only 8 weight champion. 4. Roy Jones Jr Ahh... It's such a Shame I have to put Jones last because I think he's more skilled than the 3 above but his résumé isn't all too impressive. He has beat a top 10 welterweight (Tito), a top 15 middleweight (Hopkins) and obviously Toney and Ruiz
This. Though I'd flip a coin between Floyd and Pacman as both are super fighters (Floyd undefeated and more talented, Manny's resume and multi-division achievements). SRL's record speaks for itself but I doubt too many fighters have left watchers mouths agape as much as Jones at his peak did. You can quibble about his resume but no one I've seen was as dominant at world class level for such a long period. He basically made everyone he fought look stupid from 1989-2003.
