1 Tunney 2 Walker 3 Moore 4 Ross 5 Leonard Ray had too short a career and too few fights for me. He can't compare w/ guys that fought so much and had so much exper. in diff. styles.:fire

Cant agree with this order. It's insane actually.

Tunny had a record something like 77-1. Leonard's doesnt come close to matching it at 36-3-1. Can you imagine Leonard beating Greb in a fight?
Only wins over Nunn, Jackson, and Norris could push him up to the top spot.

What? Leonard has wins over Herans, Duran, Hagler, Benitez, and was a 5 weight division champion. Instead of just looking on how many fights, have a look what he done in those 40 fights.

He is easily just as good if not better than everyone on the list.

The quality of opposition Tunney (Greg, Dempsey) and Moore (Murderer's Row, Maxim) faced were just as good, if not better than Leonard's. They are just not as well know today. Add to that they fought for much longer and more consistently against top opposition. That's why I rank them higher.

Lets be honest Hearns, Hagler, Benitez and Duran were all greater fighters than Maxim.

    1) Ross

Barney, at his very best, has been proposed at times as a candidate for P4P GOAT over Robby, Pep, Duran and Armstrong. Fortunately for us, there is ample extant footage of a peak Ross.

    2) Tunney

Grantland Rice and others had Greb winning their second fight, Gene's only official win in their series, but his record is otherwise sterling. Some of this is presumptuous speculation on my part, as Tunney was still improving when he retired. But I don't believe any active boxer was capable of truly competing with Gene at the time he took apart Heeney.

    3) Walker

A very close call between the Mongoose and the Toy Bulldog, one I can easily reverse on a moment's reflection. Mickey was handled in conclusive fashion by a clearly fading Greb. But this WW champion went on to top five contention in the heavyweight ranks, and only a prime Schmeling was able to defeat him alone among the big boys. As with Ross, we do have footage of a 27 year old Walker at his likely peak, the live sound footage of his MW title defense against Milligan (the only scheduled 20 rounder of Walker's career).

    4) Moore

This complete freak of nature went on a stunning roll after he reached his early 30s. In the last 15 years of his career, he was only stopped three times-by Marciano (who had to get off the deck to do it), Patterson (in the worst performance of Moore's career), and a young Cassius Clay.

    5) Ray Charles Leonard

Placing Ray last was by far the easiest choice to make. He had the briefest prime of any of these five, and the smallest body of work, albeit a very pithy one. Incredibly, Ray had a grand total of five successful title defenses among the five world title claims he accumulated.

I figured you would say something like that, since you hate Leonard as much as you love Norris:lol: Tunney was a naturally bigger man than Greb(unlike Leonard) so that comparison is out the window for me.

You could make the case that it was 74-4.

Why Walker so low? i know everyone on this list is potential top 10 P4P and perhaps Walker more so than Ray leonard.

    I would have it

    1. Ross
    2. Walker
    3. Moore
    4. Leonard
    5. Tunney

    1,2 & 3 are interchangeable IMO
