    Rank these eras and justify

    1960s (1960 - 1969)
    1970s (1970 - 1979)
    1980s (1980 - 1989)
    1990s (1990 - 1999)
    2000s (2000 - 2009)

The 70s is probably pretty obvious as the top. But I'm curious to see how the 90s in particular rank compared to the other eras.

A heavyweight era is defined by the fighters (Johnson, Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Liston, Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Klitschko's etc..) and not something as blunt as decades.

When people talk about the 70s, their really talking about the era from 65-75.
The lat 70's wasnt that great....

The 1970s have to rate as the best and the 2000s as the worst in my opinion.

70's. Because Ali was around, and fights started to be broadcast in colour.
90's because of Tyson, Holy, Lewis and Fat Bowe, and a few other decent fighters. and because I was in my 20's.
60's because they fought in black and white with little shorts and gloves and that makes people look tougher.
2000's because people are bigger and because it's in much better quality on TV.
80's last because they were stereotypically all on coke, despite having the potential to be much better fighters than we have today. I'd love to see the likes of Thomas, Tubbs, Dokes, Tucker etc punching on with some of the chumps of today.

Before the 90's boxing was really just a domestic sport, so clearly it was weaker...
