Regardless of Era, rank these guys in order of the best H2H fighter that ever lived.

Ali, Louis, Johnson, Marciano, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes, Tyson, Vitali K., Wlad K., Holyfield, Lewis, Dempsey, Liston

This is prime head for head what is your order? Not ranked in order of who is greatest. The question is which of these guys beats the others on the list directly in a fight. You can add in a name of your own if you wish.

12 rds only not a 15 rd fight.

How in the **** do the only two responses have Dempsey and Marciano in bottom two and bottom three?!?

And no, Lewis is for sure not the hardest H2H. I know it's opinion, but: Rahman and McCall. Ali and Louis only lost to fellow HOF legends. Hell, Frazier too. They would never be seen getting starched dramatically by either of them.

I was getting ready to see everyone just throw Ali at the top like they usually do. I have been pleasantly surprised...

It is not an easy task to rate these guys and it is purely subjective. Ali for all the accolades he gets is there for a reason. A peak ali with his foot movement is trouble for a lot of slower fighters.

this is not an east list to form.

    Lewis
Vitali (#'s 1 and 2 could go either way, but the data supports Lewis)
    Vlad
    Ali
    Holyfield
    Tyson
    Holmes
    Foreman
    Frazier
    Louis
    Marciano
    Dempsey
    Liston
    Johnson

Damn it gets hard at the bottom because none of these guys belong at the bottom of anything. I considered a current or prime form fight only, and modern conditioning, coaching, nutrition, facilities, physiological science, etc. cannot be taken out of the equation. These lists always upset people. It's subjective and opinion-based. Good post, TS.

Louis - The most versitile and experienced fighter listed, easily at the top.

Ali - Most fluid style, best handspeed and mobility, great chin.

Vitali K. - Possibly the toughest SOB here, akward but effective defensive style, heavy hands

Tyson - Textbook perfect form, seriously underrated defense, best head movement and explosive speed/power listed

Foreman - Foreman is a tank. He walks down and KO's everyone below him.

Wlad K. - Fantastic outside fighter, one punch power, great technique

Holyfield - Great conditioning, relentless, fearless.

Marciano - Rocky is like a junkyard dog. Breaks you down to the body, shoulders, arms..anything he can hit.

Lewis - Lewis was good outside, great 1+2, questionable conditioning and underestimated opponents at times, but fearless.

Holmes - Tough, fearless, could work outside or mix it up.

Dempsey - Mean, tough, ruggid. In a barfight I might pick him over everyone here except Vitali, but in the ring...No.

NOTE: I removed the fighters I knew the least about instead of tossing them at the bottom of the list.

Also, some fights could go either way (Ali vs. Vitali, Wlado vs. Holyfield, Lewis vs. Marciano)
