Baer with the bad right hand was a made-to-order target for Louis.

 

Yeah i like Baer but he dug way back to get that power and Louis through explosive, compact punches with great accuracy he was going to find that chin

 

Yeah, Baer was a wind-up, roundhouse puncher. Louis would always have reached Max's chin more quickly than Baer would have reached his.
But Joe could be hit, and the fight would have been more competitive if Max had two good hands.

 

I’d have to rank Douglas over Tyson as number 1. I don’t think any of those other guys were as big of an underdog and while Tyson may not rank so highly today, back then he was seen as practically invincible.
