In terms of natural abilities how would you rank these slick southpaws known for their smooth boxing skills and defense? Whitaker is obviously #1.

    Pernell Whitaker
    Vasyl Lomachenko
    Hilario Zapata
    Michael Nunn
    Guillermo Rigondeaux
    Mark Johnson
    Ivan Calderon
    Chris Byrd
    Zab Judah
    Anselmo Moreno
    Reggie Johnson
    Erislandy Lara
    Hector Camacho

Loma is more skilled than Rigo was.

    #1. Pernell Whitaker
    #2. Michael Nunn
    #3. Hector Camacho
    #4. Guillermo Rigondeaux
    #5. Hilario Zapata
    #6. Too Sharp
    #7. Chris Byrd
    #8. Ivan Calderon
    #9. Reggie Johnson
    #10. Erislandy Lara

IMO at least, but some of these are really close, and this was pretty hard. Great thread! I think I'm happy with this, although Calderon seems a bit low, but I don't think he did enough to warrant a placement over Byrd and I don't think he was better than Too Sharp. Guess he's just in esteemed company.

Oh those weren’t my rankings, I just put out their names in random order. But much appreciated as always!
I can’t believe I forgot to add Lomachenko, Zab Judah, and Anselmo Moreno to the list. :nonono

Why rank a bunch of slick southpaws on achievements? Why not rank them on their slick skills?

Lomachenko is not slick, he may be able to fight that way, but he does not fight out of a slick style

I wonder why you singled him out.

Umm not sure how you can say that he’s not slick, considering how he pretty much outslicked Rigondeaux.

    Pea number one for sure.
Camacho number 2 if we are talking at his absolute best.
    Nunn at number 3.
    Vasyl 4
    Too Sharp 5
    Johnson 6
Rest I have a hard time placing.

Hard to rank all these guys against each other. My first reaction was Sweet Pea #1. Loma could be up there, but I hesitate to rate guys against all time greats until the book has been written on them.

I agree with the poster who mentioned Camacho. He was absolutely spectacular at 130. Not as great each time he moved up in weight.
