Resume Lewis Benn Hatton Calzaghe Eubank Hamed Overall Talent Calzaghe Eubank Benn Lewis Hamed Hatton Legacy Need to wait for the retirements of Calzaghe & Hatton first!
Being undefeated is overrated. Could you really suggest that if say, Andre Berto got to 45-0 and called it a day, he would be rated higher than the likes of Oscar De La Hoya or Shane Mosley on that basis?? Jeff did a really good post on this about a month ago :deal

How do you get Eubanks resume above Benn's? Is it because Eubank beat him, then arguable lost in a draw? There are also a number of controversial wins on Chris' resume. I can't come up with 5 wins from Eubank that rates above these? McClellan Dewitt Iran Barkley Eubank (draw/win) Malinga Achievement wise Benn also held the far more prestigious belts, and went Stateside as well.

Comon Dewitt was old and never a great fighter...same with Barkley and Malinga. And a Draw with eubank shouldnt even count. That only leaves a fight with McClellan that ruined both their careers (after Gerald quit with injury). I find it shocking that people can list Benn's resume above Calzaghes. Benn Defeats to Watson & Eubank wins - McClellan, Dewitt, Barkley, Malinga Calzaghe wins - Hopkins, Kessler, Eubank, Lacy You could put Dewitt, Barkley and Milinga on par with the likes of Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell and Reid.
There just seems to be alot of 90s nostalgia in this thread for some people. Maybe in 10 years time Calzaghe will get the respect he deserves...because his skill, resume and legacy are all superior to Hatton, Benn and Naz.
Benn's only real defeats are to a prime Eubank, and Watson. Both who on their best day could possibly add a defeat to Joe's resume. It is disputable that Joe has never beat anyone as good as those two.
Err.. no. They are certainly not top, top draw - but generally they have a bit more to their legacy then the likes of Woodhall, Reid, Brewer etc.
I think it does mean something but it definitely is not the be all and end all. All these guys retired undefeated "champions". If you compare two retired fighters that both finished undefeated...... Floyd Mayweather fought..... Oscar De La Hoya Ricky Hatton Diego Corrales Jose Luis Castillo x 2 Zab Judah Arturo Gatti Philip N'Dou Genaro Hernandez Sven Ottke fought..... Robin Reid Glen Johnson David Starie Byron Mitchell Thomas Tate Anthony Mundine Charles Brewer Tocker Pudwill One has an excellent resume, the other filled with average fighters. Joe Calzaghe must be somewhere in between, in truth.
Well he beat Benn once and beat Watson twice (luckily the first time I admit). Benn lost to Collins twice, Eubank once and Watson so that has to go against him. The only top class performer in his prime who Benn beat is McLellan so I rate Eubank above him. Eubank also deserves credit for moving up to Cruiser and giving Thompson a hell of a fight twice.
