I've been watching some fights from the guys who seem to be about to enter the top 10 in the division since I'm tired of the usual names (Whyte, Ruiz, Ortiz, Wilder, etc) How would you rank this group? This is my ranking: 1. Tony Yoka 2. Joe Joyce 3. Filip Hrgovic 4. Efe Ajagba 5. Daniel Dubois
Yoka didn't look good in his last fight, and does not like getting hit for reason. He also has 2 positive drug tests. However he can box and move well. 1. Hrgovic 2. Ajabja 3A Yoka 3B. Joyce ( Slowing down due to age ) 5. Dubois. ( You could have picked a better 5 )
Yoka is probably top due to his amateur background his ability to move and box, Joyce probably second, I don't think it is possible for him to slow down any more, Hrgovic, Ajagba, Dubois, Dubois is 22-23 he has the time to come back and learn some of the basics, but to be honest not all that impressed with any of them.
Hrgovic, joyce, dubois, yoka, ajagba. Yoka I think will have chin issues when he steps up in class. Ajagba is levels below the others.
Wow, you guys rank Hrgovic really high. I ranked Yoka higher just cause Yoka beat him twice in the amateurs (but I realize Hrgovic beat him once earlier). Although to be fair, Yoka didn't look amazing in his last fight. Though I'll also say that Christian Hammer seems to have quite the durable chin since neither Povetkin nor Ortiz managed to KO him.
Fun question if you feel like it ... What two next opponents would you choose for the two above? I liked the way Majidov looked last fight but it was against an inactive opponent (who he hurt pretty seriously). Wouldn't mind seeing him against someone (else) on their way up.
1) Hrgovic 2) Joyce 3) Yoka 4) Dubois 5) Ajagba I would add Mahommedrasul Majidov to this list as well and have him first or second.
Currently I will go with: 1. Joyce 2. Hrgovic 3. Dubois 4. Yoka 5. Ajagba Although I see both Hrgovic and Dubois surpassing Joyce at in the future. Ajagba is vwry limited and flawed and is ,just another Wilder.
Majidov years ago was a real force. He turned professional too late. IMO Arslanbek Makhmudov ( Age 31 ) is the better pro prospect. He's got tremendous power, and a proven chin in the world series of boxing. That uppercut, when it lands forgetaboutit!
