What power? He had power at cruiserweight. When did he prove to be the second coming of Liston at heavyweight? Ooh, he wobbled Valuev. Once. Big deal. p4p, you can put CW Haye in the same league as (or even above) Eddie Chambers. Had Chambers been competing at CW, though - he might have been the better cruiserweight. Comparing the two at heavyweight - Chambers is clearly better.
I guess most of you only watched Mccline after he became a gate keeper...He was making noise at one time..Maybe not more accomplished than Byrd but more dangerous too Wlad.. Cant believe only one poster has mentioned him and they had him at the bottom! lol
It's close, but I'd go with Haye. Top 4 wins: Haye Valuev - MD (former 2x WBA champ) Ruiz - TKO9 (former WBA champ) Barrett - TKO5 Harrison - TKO3 Chambers Peter - MD (former WBC champ) Dimitrenko - MD Brock - SD Guinn - UD
Brock is better than Valeuv and would have beat him Peter and old RUiz??? Close maybe edge to Peter since. DImitrenko better win than Barrett Guinn is a better win than Harrison. Hayes resume is not that good.... Its just most of the top guys arent fighting eachother... In a way im looking forward to the klits retiring, then these guys might all start fighting eachother instead of stalling and waiting for title shots... At least Arreola is active, and although he loss took on Vitali and Adamke... .Helenius showed something in taking on Peter... But WTF with everyone else?
In terms of Wlad's best wins I'd rank them something like this: 1 Haye- Highly rated, dangerous, belt holder and former cruiserweight champ. Haye's position could change in the future, if he retires or does little else he'll slide down but if he pulls down a nice win or two he'll probably hold his spot, but as of right now, he was the most dangerous guy Wlad has faced and highly thought of coming into the fight. 2 Byrd 1- Byrd was a good heavyweight and I think history will be kind to him, he's one of the better heavyweights of the last 15-20 years. 3 Sultan- He's a bit like Haye in that his resume isn't as strong but he was highly thought of in the ring and seemed to match up decently with Wlad. 4 Chambers- Chambers has put together a nice record and is pretty skilled in the ring. Like Byrd he didn't match up well with Wlad but he's still a good fighter and could move up since he's relatively young. 5 Chagaev- Good fighter who has a few nice wins but was probably on the slide some when Wlad beat him but still had something left. 6 McCline- At the time Wlad beat him he was on a really nice run and wasn't giving away size to Wlad. I remember really looking foward to this fight and Wlad dominated a solid but not spetacular big man. 7 Peter 1- Peter was somewhat green at the time but he was a big puncher with a big chin and Wlad was at a low spot in his career. A dangerous fight for Wlad at the time. 8 Brock- I never thought Brock was a special fighter but he was solid in a lot of areas with some power. He was young, undefeated, and came to win and Wlad went on the road to do it. 9 Byrd 2- Clearly Byrd was on the decline and was fighting about once a year for a few years so this wasn't the same guy Wlad beat the first time. Still a good fighter but considering his age and style disadvantage this win has to rate lower. 10 Thompson- Thompson does nothing great but isn't weak in many areas besides footspeed/work. He's a big awkward southpaw who has a few decent wins on his record. He came to fight with Wlad as well. 11 Barrett 12 Peter 2 13 Mercer 14 Botha 15 Brewster 2 I guess you could move some of the guys around but I noticed Wlad has beaten a number of good/solid fighter in his career.
peter 1 (not that he was all that formidable but peter was probably at his 'best' around that time or close to it) the next 4 are pretty close imo peter 2- (peter not any better, probably worse) brock (decent 'prospect' young hw who wlad stopped) haye (potentially the best 'opponent' out of the list as put forth but pretty lame performance imo) chagaev (he wasn't at his best and that's not good cuz he ain't great ever, wlad stopped him- ) byrd 2 (has a good argument for 'best opponent listed' with haye but byrd was shot by then) brewster 2 (he was a cripple)
