Gavin surprised me a little, I always thought Saunders and Jeffries would hit the ground running as pros.
(1) Jeffries and Saunders joint. (2) Gavin (3) Degale - way back in third. Wasn't impressed at all. He needs to get rid of some of that amateur ****.
i might get stick over this but i thought degale done well, good hand speed and variety, he is going on reflexes for defence at the moment though which aint good because he will only get tagged unless they improve thought gavin done well just got a bit predictable, jab left, jab left right hook to the body, he threw that too many times tonight, he was planting his feet but might lack natural power jeffries is strong although less talented than the rest, i didnt see saunders yet, will watch him tomorrow
Jeffries will get to British title level on size, strength and basic boxing. I'm not sure how far he'll go after that.
Jeffries impressed me the most over the weekend, i think we can look forward to seeing some exciting fights from him in the future. Degale has had the highest profile since the olympics and that brings its own pressure, i think someone needs to take him aside and curb the attitude and arrogance. The examples of Amir Kahn and Harrison are there for everyone to see how quickly the public can turn against boxers if they fail to live up to expectations. I look forward to seeing all 4 of them more.
He can ****ing dream on with that statement McCracken always suffered with this too, that lot always wanted him to do well while we all wanted to see him get ****ed up. He always seemed a decent kind of bloke to me actually and I do think it's daft to hold the footballing allegiance against a fighter....but they were the ****s singing about us when he won tonight so it's game on  As a sidenote McCracken earned 100% respect from me for what he did in that Froch world title fight on the day his mother died. Balls of steel that took in my humble opinion.
I really dont understand the **** DeGale is gettin, even before his fight tonight. I was away travellin in the summer so I caught absolutely nothing of the olympics, but surely he must have shown some ability in winning his gold medal? The attitude on this forum is sad....it seems most of you were hoping DeGale did **** even before he fought, I was out and didnt catch the fight but the commentators thought he did well. It was his first pro fight ffs, he obviously has talent. Give him a chance, all you know-it-alls writing him off after 1 fight.
I hope we're not going to see any of the **** that happened with McCracken and have Football fan's turn up and kick the **** out of each other at Frankie Gavin fight's.
This is just my take on it but IMHO DeGale showed a lot of ability in winning his gold medal but it was ability in amateur boxing. I (and other people on here) have said the guy has his work cut out developing a style for the pros and so far he's done absolutely nothing to show otherwise and ring entrance and dummy spitting post fight interview were awful. Forget about what the Sky commentators said, DeGale was very amateurish, he was by far the poorest of this weekends 4 debutants. Added to the fact that he's also the biggest gobshite of the 4 debutants, thats a pretty bad combination.
I think most of us are just judging his first performance, not saying that his career is ****ed from the start. He could turn out well, but it seems like he might have a few problems adapting from the amateur game to the pro one. He was the least impressive of the debutants in my eyes.
Saunders looked the most impressive in my eyes. Brought the pressure, but in a smart enough way. Threw the combinations well, and loaded his punches with intent. A real good combination of speed and power in my eyes. Like the rest of the debutants though, it really is too early too tell.
