    1. Louis vs Scmeling II
    2. Jefferies vs Johnson
    3. Ali vs Frazier I
    4. Sullivan vs Corbett
    5. Dempsey vs Tunney II
    6. Leonard vs Duran I
    7. Leonard vs Hagler
    8. Mayweather vs De La Hoya
    9. Leonard vs Hearns I
    10. Mayweather vs Pacquiao

why is Pacquiao vs Mayweather so low?...both are aging and not in their primes and the fight should have happened years ago. Plus Manny has two important losses including one by devastating KO. However as far as promotion it is a mega bout given the massive mass media exposure.

    Your opinion or rankings??

It's really going to depend on how good the fight is. If it's a great fight it can make that list. If both fighters cautiously fight to a near draw, then it will be another DLH-Trinidad.

If the history of both fighters is an indication, we can expect Manny to try to bring the fight and Floyd to try to stink the joint out. Personally I think only a KO by either fighter will allow the fight to make that list.

May-DLH has no business being in that list.

Its not early and has nothing to do with the quality of the fight....it's the importance of the fight in the eyes of society and above that of just boxing fans.

may vs pac would be higher than may vs dela hoya since may and pac are higher in atg rankings so the higher the fighters rank in atg list and their fighting prime, the higher the relevance of the fight.

The quality of the fight is not what this is about. . . . it is the importance of the bout in the eyes of the public prior to the event and then the historical importance.

Where's Calzaghe vs Lacey? That was when Joe showed the world just how truly great he is.

DLH is ahead of May and Pac on my list, so I disagree. DLH fought some real greats not weight drained names: Whittaker, Chavez Sr (past his prime), Hopkins, Trinidad.

Just because Mayweather beat a past prime DLH and Pac weight drained him too doesn't mean both are better than him.

    ali frasier
    leonard duran
    hagler hearns
    and leonard hagler

    will always rate higher

actually leonard hagler has a stink to it

hagler (stupidly) gave into the biggest ring ever made
    and leonard ran like bolt

That may be your way of looking at it, but it will not matter on the morning of May 3rd. All that will be remembered by anyone is the fight either lived up to expectations or it will be boring and almost forgotten. All the fights in your list, except for one, lived up to or exceeded expectations. If the fights on your list had been boring lopsided decisions, you'd rarely hear anyone mention them.

Not coincidentally, the fights on your list also have another thing in common. Both of the fighters "brought it" that night.

It reminds me of something Mike Tyson, boxing's leading philosopher-sage, has said. He says that in a lot of fights there's an unspoken agreement between the fighters not to hurt each other. In all the fights you list, except for one, that was not the agreement.
