No neither of these guys hit harder than Marciano, very few if any did.

We won’t ever really know but Archie Moore who fought all three thought so.

The thread title doesn't mention only HW's so I'll go with (in no particular order):

    Julian Jackson
    Ernie Shavers
Billy Bird (139 out of 356...he MUST have had a good punch)
    Sam Langford (126 KO's)
Young Stribling 129/291 KOs...however he would not fight with a black boxer so I don't think he belongs here
    Archie Moore 132 KO's

I do not believe anyone hit as hard with one shot as Wilder ... no one ... I have never seen anyone flatten huge men with single shots like Wilder ... even Shavers and Earnie clearly was a beast ...

I think he could beat some guys at the top of the food chain at least sometimes, guys with lacking defence only though really. If someone like Foreman, Bowe or Mcvey walked into something terrible from Wilder I don’t think they’d get up.

Of course he did he beat the other two he always was sore about his loss to Marciano, fighters do it all the time.

This is actually pretty fair and close to what I usually come up with.

Archie Moore said they both hit him harder than Rocky did. Lastarza and Cockell both said they were hit harder by other fighters ,but that none hit so consistently hard.
Charles picked Satterfield and Marshall as the men who hit him the hardest. Joe Louis picked Al Delaney as the man who hit him the hardest!

There is a significant laundry list of fighters who attest Dempsey was the hardest hitter they ever met in the ring. Grantland Rice, no Dempsey lover, wrote Dempsey “must hit harder than any fighter in boxing history” and regarding his bout with Willard which he watch live from ringside “it seemed the his next blow would take his head off”. Fleischer wrote that Dempseys punches “sounded like a wooden hammer pounding against an Anvil”.

I can only attest to what I have actually witnessed and I’ve watched Foreman, Shavers, Frazier, Lyle as well as Ali train, specifically hitting the heavy bag. There is no comparison, Foreman by far was the harder hitter. A whole level or two above the rest.

I defend Jeffries plenty on this forum but I can't understand having him as a top 2 puncher. He clearly had power but I don't see the proof of it being this high. He KO'd very few elite men of his own size, outside of Gus Ruhlin
