Ranking Wald’s best title match wins based on whom they have beaten in their career and how good I think they were/are when they fought Wlad.

Some of the rankings are very close, so I’m not going to debate them if they are 1-4 spots apart.

23 opponents in world title matches, some of whom were beaten twice.

    Povetkin
    Ibragimov
    Byrd
    Chagaev
    Peter
    Haye
    Brewster
Jennings* ( Much if his career is left ) could go up or down
Pulev* ( Much of his career is left ) could go up or down
    Chambers
    Thompson
    McCline
    Rahman
    Brock
    Mercer
    Austin
    Wach
    Botha
    Pianeta
    Jefferson
    Mormeck
    Shufford
    Leapai

*I would place Fury right below Jennings for now.

^ good solid list. Rahman a little to high. Jefferson maybe up a slot or two. Wlad's resume is better than many think because he faced numerous opponents in their absolute prime. He's not making his name on "faded" names.

good list, Fury may have a bit more than Jennings in regard to offensive unloading and as we all know size but you may be right Haye I would bring up a bit because of his power, I think Brewster is too high...Thompson was also worthy and had some good wins....Vlad has a solid resume

Byrd 1 (the most skilled Wlad's opponent in his prime)
    Povetkin
    Chagaev
    Haye
    Ibragimov
    Peter

(#4-6 can be changed in any order)

    Jennings
    Thompson 1
    Byrd 2 (past prime)
    Pulev
    McCline
    Brock
    Brewster 2 (past prime)
    Botha
    Rahman (past prime)
    Mercer (old)
    Austin
    Wach
    Pianeta
Shufford (at the time of the fight a decent fighter, declined rapidly)
    Jefferson
    Mormeck (old and shot cruiser)
Leapai (a D-level fighter, the weakest challenger of both Klitschkos combined title defences).

    Great post

Darryl Williamson over Alex lepeai? Williams was a huge puncher with a long reach, he floored Wlad. Very dangerous fighter. Lepeai was a joke, I don't know how he beat boystov

Also didn't shufford beat a prime lamon Brewster? Maybe higher?

    Where's axel shulz?

And Wach is a 6'8 250lb fighter with an iron chin and a big right hand. ,abbé he could be higher?

He does rank only wins in title fights in this thread.
So Williamson, Barrett and Shulz are off list while all of them much better than Leapai

I also put Shufford a bit higher

I think Haye should be #2.

Wach should be up a few spots considering he also tested for PEDs during that fight.

Good list. I'd put Haye and Peter slightly higher and Iggy and Brewster II much lower, but otherwise very close to how I'd have it.

Iggy had great tools. Quick feet, fast hands, one punch type of KO power, and a decent chin. You have to see his other fights to appreciate his game. Decent counter puncher too.

Top chin, I don't think he was never knocked down, was he? I'd just say he didn't face enough top guys or dominate in the way necessary to exceed Peter or even Haye. Maybe if injuries hadn't derailed his career.

He was down against Austin, but I think that is just a case of struggling with a guy who is five inches taller and 30 pounds heavier.

Iggy was a terrific fighter and could have done a lot more.

    My top ten would be:

    Byrd
    Povetkin
    Chagaev
    Haye
    Iggy
    Pulev
    Thompson
    McCline
    Peter
    Jennings

Mercer, Rahman and Brewster are great names but they were all shot.

Chambers is a quality guy but a perfect punching bag for Wlad as he is small, lacks power, and doesn't open up a lot. I wish him well but he had no chance at all.

Wach is a very interesting footnote as he was one of the few guys Wlad beat who is bigger than Wladdy. He had the iron chin, and also had enough pop in the right hand to be a sort of a threat. All of that being said, he just isn't that good.

As for all of the rest, they really aren't worth mentioning.

Povetkin is not Wlad's best title win....not by a long shot.

The Povetkin fight was his ugliest, but Povetkin has the best record out of all his opponents IMO

I agree, but the manner in which he won taints if for me too much. If he legitimately pounded him for 12 rounds or whatever, then I'd hold it in very high regard and it'd easily be his best win. Dare I say it but I'd hold the Peter rematch higher than it due to the disgrace that was the Povetkin fight.
