Rare fight films

I have both of those fights, have had them for awhile .

 

I have the fight, and it was close enough to justify either man getting the nod. Personally I thought that Terrell won it by two rounds, but a case can be made for Williams winning it by one or two rounds as well. Ernie`s jab was the difference in this one for me, as he kept it in Cleve`s face all night and piled up the points with it.

About my lack of posting, there is a reason for that, and that is because I find far too many of the topics in the classic section to be repetitive and quite frankly boring to me. The fighters that are of interest to me and that I would very much like to talk about with others are unfortunately almost completely unknown here to most.

I can only read so many topics about heavyweights and middleweights and Hearns and Leonard and name fighters before I get bored out of my skull with it all. The same topics keep coming up, and I just cannot be bothered to post on them as most of what I would have to say is already covered in depth by some other posters, so there is really nothing I can add to the disscussion that hasn`t already been said.

As for salsanchezfan, the last time we spoke he expressed the same feelings about the classic section that I am in this post, and that is that far too many topics are disscussed repeatedly and he got bored with it all and left. He will be back eventually I`m sure, but for now he is posting on another board, not sure which one anymore.

About the fights you mentioned, I am pretty sure I have most if not all that is available on the fighters in question... although I may be wrong on that. If you wish, send me a pm with a list of what you have on those fighters, and I will check and see if have them or not.

As for what and which fighters I would like to talk about, I do not know if my topics would garner much interest as most of the posters here do not talk about or disscuss fighters they do not know all that well.

I mean, how many posters here have heard or can honestly say they know much of anything about say Shozo Saijo? or Masao Ohba? Or how about Joey Giambra or Fidel Bassa? Not too many I am sure, unfortunately.

Anyway, I am off for the night, but I will be back tomorrow to post a bit more. Hell, I might, just might post a fantasy matchup or two while I am at it. Oh and if anyone is interested, I have some highlighs of the second Jofre/Medel fight as well, runs just under 8 minutes and includes the knockout.

I was also shocked to find a copy of this fight, as I was certain that there was no footage of any of Ray`s title defenses, but sure enough there it is.

I consider myself quite fortunate and priviliged to have a copy of it, as this is one fight that I can honestly say only a handful of people worldwide have it, and the only reason I have a copy is because a long time trading partner of mine trusted me enough to pass it on to me after many years of trading together.

It just goes to show that if one is trustworthy and a generous trader like myself (I always include extra fights whenever I trade with someone, ask anyone who has traded with me in the past) good things will come out of it eventually.

Same thing with the highlights of the second Jofre/Medel fight, a long time trading buddy of mine told me he had it recently and decided to pass it on to me because of all the extra fights I gave him over the years. I hope to come accross some more gems in the future, and I am sure I will in time.

From what I saw on the film, Robinson looked to be very fast of both hand and foot, and was a beautiful combination puncher. However, Bernard Docusen was also a damn fine fighter, and he made Robinson miss on several occasions and countered him effectively at times when Ray got a bit wild with his punches when he trapped Bernie into a corner.

As for the website you mention, I have not done business with that website in particular... frankly I haven`t bought anything from any websites who sell fights for several years now. I have traded tons of fights with several of them however, most notably Brian Cooper from silver surfer who got most of his asian fight films from me over the years as well as many of his older bouts from the 40`s, 50`s and 60`s.

Kurt Noltimier from ringwise is another one with whom I have dealt with in the past, as well as Danny Plunkett from knockoutprom, and thats about it really. Now that I think about it though, I believe the owner of the site you mentioned did contact me about making a trade for some of my fights over a year ago, although I never got back to him. Seemed like a nice enough fellow, but that is about all I can tell you.

You make some very astute points in your post, and I agree wholeheartedly with everything you wrote. If I knew how to upload fights onto youtube, I would do so to let others see some of the great fighters of the past in action, unfortunately I have no clue whatsoever how to do so but perhaps one day I will upload some fights for all to see once I find out how to do so.

As for ESPN, I agree completely that they have absolutely no interest whatsoever in showing those films to the general public, and the reason being and I kid you not as I was told this by someone who works directly for them is because if they were to show the fights they have, they would lose their value and thus the money they paid for them would have been for nothing!

So they rather keep them under lock and key and gather dust while they sit on the shelves. Makes one wonder why on earth they shelled out almost 100 million dollars for a collection of fights they have no intention of releasing to the general public, boggles the mind really. But, one can get film from ESPN if you pay them for it, and even then you have to know who to contact and then work something out with that person.

I have bought some fight films from them over the years, but every fight I bought from them cost me a small fortune as they do not part with ANY fights without a price, and often that price is quite steep. To give you an idea of what I mean just one of the fights I bought cost me 600$, and that is just one fight! And even then I would never have gotten a hold of it if it were not for me being told by a friend of mine who to talk to about getting some of those fights.

The next one on my target list is the Dick Tiger/Frankie DePaula fight which they do have, and one day I will get it from them, but alas I do not have the required funds to do so at the moment. That is why I started this thread as I am hoping that someone out there has a copy, and that way I won`t have to shell out a small fortune to get a hold of it. But if that is what its gonna take then so be it, one way or another I will get a hold of it.

On another note, I hope you stick around these forums for a little while yet as I always enjoy reading your posts and opinions on any topic you reply to. Like you I may one day get bored with the site permanently and leave for good, but if topics like the one Drew101 posted earlier today keep popping up on a more regular basis, I may just stick around and post a bit more often.
