The Corbett shots look like recreations for theaters with the stage backgrounds. Interesting.

    This wasn't discussed yet here...
I remember a rumour that said the film of SRR vs The Cuban Hawk actually existed, and was in Jim Jacobs and Bill Cayton's possession, even Mike Tyson himself said he had watched the fight and it's floating around in Cuba,we still don't know till today,so far...
    https://www.*******.com/forums/boxi...-sugar-ray-robinson-vs-kid-gavilan-was-filmed
I found a dude talking about how he actually had he tape in this forum here, idk if he's being real or not though,he had a link evidence that's invalid, plus it was already many years ago before I talked bout this.

I see what you mean, though I personally don’t think that it’s a reenactment. This newspaper says that the copy of Corbett-McCoy in existence was the real thing:

I don’t see why they’d reenact it, if the fight was actually filmed.

The images are terrific and thank you for posting but sometime they did recreate for reasons of bad prints or copy rites of who knows what .... this seems to have about three rows of fans and a clear staged coliseum poster over a brick wall background ... anything s possible but maybe Adam Pollack can weigh in as maybe he covered in in his research on Corbett ... that's a pretty prime looking Sullivan in that photo BTW ... must be an 1882 - 83 vintage ...

Been trying to find Alberto Davila’s fights with Frankie Duarte (1) and Chul Soon Hwang. I know his fight with Kiki Bejines was also available to watch before but that one sadly ended with tragic results.

Jorge Maysonet's brutal first round (10 seconds in) one punch knockout of highly hyped Hugh Kearney has been copyright struck from the internet.

I have the Duarte first fight. I thought I’d put it on YouTube. I’ve changed my computer now and it won’t take DVD’s but maybe I’ll try to think of another way.

What makes this even more bizarre is that the newspaper discussing the fight being shown is from 1909 and the pictures are from 1903, if this is a reenactment then it means the real one was still in existence at the time.

I believe the Sullivan photo is from around 1885, so it seems like he’s in the final years of his prime before the broken arm against Cardiff and the eventual alcohol-induced coma in 1888. He looks like he weighs around 220 or even more and seems to wear it pretty well. From what I’ve seen of Sullivan in one 1883 picture he appeared leaner

Not a fight, but there's some documentary where during the intro there's a clip of Ali knocking around a large heavy bag, not like Marciano's or Tyson's, but at least the size of the one Foreman was banging on it actually looked a bit larger, and Ali had that thing swinging like it was nothing, there has to be more footage of that training

I'm eagerly holding my breath for footage of Bert Gilroy, he knew that at least one of his fights was filmed and we are pretty confident that there must be existing footage of Gilroy vs Freddie Mills, Bruce Woodcock, Vince Hawkins and/or Marcel Cerdan.

Quite possibly whoever wrote the article made some mistakes ... either way very cool photos that I've never seen before and hopefully Adam may add some insight.

On September 5, 1900 at S.S. Lubin’s laboratory in Philadelphia, Corbett
and McCoy reproduced their battle for the Evening Journal cameras. They
wanted to make some money with fight films. That idea had been
abandoned for the real fight because the lighting was so poor. Therefore,
they essentially acted out their fight again
