Sickening. Couldn't even watch it till the end. The commentator makes it unbearable. Even knowing this happened, watching it makes it hard to believe.
I watched it with the sound off so haven't heard the commentary. I didn't think it was as bad as a lot of other incidental racist stuff from that era .... for example, black people's roles in films from the 1930s and '40s, stupid "co0n" character roles spoiling otherwise decent movies. Hey, I don't even have to go back that far. Here in the UK I was watching more racist stuff than that on the BBC in the 1980s. Then again, maybe in a few years time people will look back on the Rumble in the Jungle or the Thrilla In Manilla as pretty vile stuff too. It's possible.
