mostly genetics, not taking big punishment when young or old plays a big part in it too, plus luck, inches can be the difference in a punch causing permanent damage or not.

imo Mclarnin had one of the best managed careers ever, well done to him and pop foster(no bull**** matchmaking but made sensible decisions most every time and retired too early rather than too late)

Ive got Spoldi's fight with DeWinter for the EBU title in 39. He was good little fighter. The stoppage was typical Italian officiating though.

All of them were great. Jeffries said, when he was a young boy his father used to rough it would him, and told him he would make another John L Sullivan! Then he talks about Fitzsimons. Any man who fought Fitzsimmons knew he was in the fight the next day!

Walcott wishes he was back in the mix, and talks about beating Choynski. He seems happy for some reason even though he was a janitor at the time.

Ryan talks about going 75 rounds!

I have never seen O'Brien talking about his fight with Ketchel. Amazing, Burns could not catch O'Brien, yet Ketchel who looks slow footed and predictable on film did.

O'Brien's is the best. Its hilarious. In a perfect, dead pan style he says something like "For 10 rounds I easily, and masterfully annhilated Stanley Ketchel. Just before the close of the fight Ketchel landed a punch. The gong rang ending the fight as I was resting quietly, and quite comfortably with my head in the resin box." LOL!

Another good one is Benny Leonard talking about losing money in stock market. He says "People say Benny, I hear you lost a lot of money in the stock market. Well, yeah, I lost a couple hundred thousand dollars in the stock market. But, hey, listen, whats a couple hundred thousand when ya got a couple million!" Then he makes this hilarious face that gets me every time.

I have some of the interviews mention, didnt look at the youtube thing with McLarnin.

Kid McCoy who was a great fighter, I never forget his interview, how he will work to aton for his sins, try to better himself, and be a law ciz ete. Than shortly after that kills himself. It was pretty sad.
