Mental dominance...and Will of the mind and heart...he was a good thinker in there and was better in rematches

 

Perhaps Rocky`s own indomitable will is what you are reffering to which is something that cannot be taught? His complete belief and confidence in himself and his ability to get the job done and never entertaining the idea that he could be defeated? This one is a real head scratcher I must say... am I getting closer?

 

When I look at observations made by his opponents they all seem to mention that it was verry hard to time his punches and predict when they would land.

They maention that he came forward feinting with his hands and feet. It is something that is not apparent on film untill you actualy look for it.

 

It must be a physical asset then which would be his natural strenght and power, but those two have already been mentioned and are not the answer it seems... I`m kinda stumped here to be honest.

Your probably right John, and I`m almost certain that the answer has already crossed my mind yet I haven`t made the connection yet.... arrghh it is frustrating to say the least! I know that an indomitable will is something that cannot be taught, and Rocky had that in spades. He also refused to believe that he could ever be beaten and he exhuded that complete confidence in himself and his ability to get the job done, much like Monzon in fact in that regard.

 

His pain threshold seems pretty ridiculous, also.

 

Hmmm, well for one thing he never stopped coming forward, NEVER! Didn`t matter how much leather you threw his way or landed on him he would always be coming forward, always be on the attack looking to knock your head off.
