I'm a Gamboa fan but the answer to your question is Ward. Gamboa is arguably the better athlete but when it comes to boxing skills and ring savvy Ward takes it hands down. Ward is more proven and is close to the total package. He lacks the explosive power of Gamboa but he is ahead in every other area.
Ward is different class. Great fighter. I just hope he refrains from ever using his disgraceful head-butting tactics again.
I did not make an assumptions I said what everyone on these boards knows is the truth. lol, and you cannot even deny it because it took you forever to comeback with that lame ass comment. Yes, Dawson is the bigger man he has fought at 175 for years now and Ward 168. Pac fought Clottey @ 147 so you are saying that they were the same size? bailey, you have zero credibility when it comes to talking about anything related to fighters in and around the SMW division. Yes, you have an encyclopedia of knowledge regarding Calslappy but you are a specialist on that one fighter and everything that relates to him. Everyone knows that you only mission on these boards is to make Joe the GOAT and you do it in the manner I suggested above. Most serious posters take you lightly because everyone knows you have an agenda and you never talk about anything other than 168 so you are not really a fan of boxing but rather a fan of a boxer. So since you do not talk about any thing other than 168 you have zero credibility with any other weight classes. So there you have it, zero credibility around 168 and zero credibility with any other weightclass equals zero credibility period. Hell joe . . i mean bailey, I wish I had you passion that you have for Joe for anything. But like I said before in another thread, the more you try to push your hero's "greatness" down other peoples throats the less likely that people will start thinking of him in a positive manner. Nobody likes to be told how to think. Besides if you think his accomplishments are so great they will stand the test of time. I hated RJJ until I started have to defend BS about him on these boards, the same with Hatton and now it seems like Ward ( both of these guys to a lesser extent). So **** off with the Joe **** for a while, go talk about PBF v Pac or K2 . . . stay away from SMW discussions for a while dude. :bart:bart
If there was dirtiness in the Ward/Froch fight, it was down to Froch. He's the one who started engaging in shenanigans when he was frustrated after it became clear that he couldn't do anything to Ward. I don't know what ****ing fight you were watching (if you even watched it).
Yeah thats very fair, because when I said B+ maybe A-, I was reffering to the history of the SMW division. In todays SMW division he would say around A- maybe an A, but in the history of the division I would say B+
He's beaten 40% of the top 5 fighters in his class. He can skip beat Dre Dirrel, Steiglitz or Bute and cement himself IMO as the best of this generation. But, bringing Dawson down to SMW is really a bad decision in hindsight, esp now that Bute was blown out.:think He shoudla waited a week to see how Froch dealt with Bute and then called out the winner, then the loser or Kessler. Froch has inasmuch ducked the spoiler, Kessler seems content on Froch, and a Bute fight is looking so much more appealing right now for Ward. And without seeing the poll, I knew the A++++ option would be in place, having seen the Bute and Kessler polls first
Ability-wise, the 2nd best to ever fight at 168lbs after Roy Jones Jr 1994-96, on a par with early 90s James Toney. P4P, the 3rd best on the planet behind Pacquiao and Mayweather, though he will probably become #1 shortly seeing as those two are reaching their mid-30s.
