As Guy has stated, Mcgregor isnt British lvl. But there is one factor that we shouldnt overlook and thats bad technique can throw an ATG well out of his rythm. I was once in a gym a few years ago and it was a pro gym that used to do boxercise/novice classes a couple times of wk to help with the rent etc In that pro gym at the time was an active british champion who used to help out with the classes etc. One time there was a lad on the class who was extremly fit but the only bit of boxing hed done was on this boxercise/novice class, no am experiemce or anything like that. He was a friend of this british champion and one day they had a move about in the ring. Obviously this kid wanted to see how fit he was compared to a high level boxer. It waz just a bit of fun between friends really. Well let me tell you this kid had us all dropping out jaws. He was fit as fk and for a couple of rounds he was giving this champ a run for his money. After a bit the fitness dropped and he was a sitting duck but my point is for near on two rounds we couldnt beleive what we were seeing. Uoud of put this boxercise kid in for a title the very next wk on what we saw. After i spoke to the champ and asked him how come the other kid did so well in there. He said because he couldnt box with technique you just wasnt used to where the punches were coming from. It was because this kid was so bad that it made him good. Obviously because this kid was super fit as well that was the determing factor but my point is, that floyd is usef to dealing with world lvl operaters and the fact that Mcgregor is so far behind Floyd in bixing ability might make him effective on the night....its worth thinking about
I love MMA and McGregor is a superstar. But he will get taken to pieces, Conor isn't that fast and in boxing terms his feet will be like lead vs Floyd. He's used to setting traps or walking fighters down with feinting kicks and elbows and 4oz gloves. All that is taken away. It's a cakewalk and he looked below British level in that sparring. He's not countering Eddie Alverez here, it's an ATG.
You have to remember Mcgregor will mentally break him down before the fight has started. This is one of his main attributes, I will be looking forward to the 'world tour' should be some top banter.
Re fitness I used to spar a kid that used to compete at high level at centuarion runs and and ultra marathons. His technique was terrible and he used to gas after 4 or 5 rounds . McGregor will gas bad he's not used to the pace Did you see dillishaw sparring loma he was gased and he has elite cardio . Mma guys arnt uses to that intensity. They fight in bursts then rest. Can't believe people that actually watch boxing and know there stuff are giving McGregor a sniff it's beyond a joke
it is a good point but the video that this thread is started on shows McGregor against a boxer not even relatively close to the level of Mayweather and Van Heerden doesn't have many problems
Connor should implement the maidana 1 fight and with his strength height advantages he could give Floyd food for thought But it's a still a complete miss match and conor hates being punched in the race go ash Nate diaz
Sam Eggington would knock the living granny out of McGregor for a Big Mac meal.... this whole thing is a complete joke....i really hope SKY buy this up because surely it will bomb? Boxnation/BT are the real winners getting a proper gigantic fight
Ironically it will sell better than the bt ppv. It's a circus alright, but it's going to do huge numbers.
Im with Hattonmad its a joke fight really buts its going to break records at the box office, sad to admit I will buy it 110%
McGregor against a come forward fighter like Porter or a Pacquiao might have been slightly more interesting spectacle, not because McGregor would have had a tiny chance (he still wouldn't) but because he'd have been roughed up so bad. Hitting Mayweather is like nailing jelly to the wall. He nullifies opponents...so we're just going to see him nullify a giddy novice. There is absolutely zero chance of McGregor winning...not even a punchers chance because I don't believe he'll have that knockout power with them gloves on. I'll watch it on YouTube the day after but I won't be paying. I'll look forward to Canelo v GGG.
It's not a myth. It's a proven fact. In his last 10 fights he's had a single KO. 10% KO ratio in his 10 most recent fights = light puncher.
What about injury? He's gotta be higher than 0% I think 1-2% is more realistic. Bearing in mind his age, injury isn't that far fetched.
