At the time Haye fought him, Bonin wasn't even considered on the map of bums. It was as anonymous debut opponent as Haye could have possibly selected.
Barrett - Wlad knocked him down 5 times, almost a DECADE earlier Valuev - I'm not sure Haye even won this fight with his 13 punches per round Ruiz - Old & Worn. Took Haye 9 rds to do what Tua did in 19 seconds 14 years earlier. Harrison - Seriously? Audley "I Threw 1 Punch" Harrison
Alright now I know Terry is just joking, this comment can't be serious. Ruiz skilled? At hugging maybe and when he fought Haye he had lost his ability to do that. Valuev has no skill and is stuck in mud when he fights. Haye has two of the worst HW fights under his belt. the Valuev and Harrison fight.
No worse than the K brothers. That is not saying much though. Ruiz lost a MD with Valuev, people did argue he won and a SD loss against Chageav, again people argue he won. Chagaev is classed as a good win for Wladimir. Despite Chagaev only having fought once in 18 months. Given his medicial problems and last minute fight with wladimir that was a over hyped win. There were problems with the k brothers fighting for WBA long before Haye. They also struggled to get any decent oppersition for optional title defences due to the alledged poor contracts. On the contracts I agree they are really bad which is unfortunate. Fighters crapping on fighters like promotors I hate. That means I do not like the k brothers it does not mean I a fan of Haye. K brothers wins over Peter and Aerola I rate, as they were raw talents. The problem is they never learnt to box and did not train. So Aerola and Peter wins I rate as better than Haye's because they have punching power. Sultan and Chagaev power was over hyped. The others were just poor, or once half decent and slow. Sorry not much in it.
lol::nut More telling when you word it this way: Valuev-11 months inactivity prior to Haye. Chagaev-4 months removed from last fight prior to Wlad. And so Chris Byrd is poor...once half decent and slow. Welcome to my ignore, ****.
Bonin -Polish journeyman who never fought anyone close to 'good'. Barett-over the hill fighter who (at his peak) never really could take the step to the real top. John Ruiz- boring fighter without a punch, and also over the top (look at his losses .... not the best in the game). Valuev - never won against a good fighter. No technique, no power, just big and slow. Harrison - what did Harrison proofed as a pro? Also never fought a descent fight against a real good opponent. Ther you have it: Haye won a 'battle of Brittain' there where some doubts of the fight beeing fixed btw. Won a boring circusfight against Valuev etc. Haye will not be remembered if he will not fight and win against one of the Klitschko's
I'd rate Haye's four most recent heavyweight fights like this: Valuev- The giant was a somewhat dangerous fighter a few years earlier by the time Haye got to him he was getting old and was probably beaten by Holyfield his last time out. Haye did go on the road to win this one so that helps. I'd give this win a C+ Ruiz- Ruiz was actually a solid heavyweight at one time. He might have been a big overachiever and probably had no fans outside of some of his family but he was solid. By the time he fought Haye he was old and a part-time fighter but he came to win. I'd give this win a C. Barrett- Barrett was always a solid contender but short of the top level. He was clearly past his best when Haye beat him. I don't want to be too generous here but I'd give this win a C- Harrison- This was obviously a weak choice of opponent and I rate Harrison as an opponent as about a D. But the effort put forth by Harrison was embarrassing. I'd give this win an F. I like Haye but he clearly needs to put some quality into his heavyweight resume. He's fighting former contenders who are way past their best and some have been inactive when he fought them. Chagaev would be a good win if they fought, even if Chagaev is on the downside but a fight with Rahman does nothing to help his resume. If Haye does retire at the end of this year ( which I doubt) and doesn't face a Klitschko he'll be forgotten as a heavyweight contender within a few years. Which would be too bad because I think Haye is a good heavyweight and could have a nice career if would simply fight other contenders and not old former contenders.
