Possibly. I was rooting for him, but when the fight was over I thought that Valuev would save the belt. I remember the Holyfield fight, who deserved the win over Valuev more than Haye. I dont say that Haye didnt deserve the win, because it was close, but I compare it to the Holyfield fight. I know that its very hard to win on the German soil, but in that fight (Haye-Valuev) there was no home-scoring and it surprised me the most. Now it looks like Don King and Sauerland (Valuev promotoers) co-promote Haye, may somebody confirm it or deny?

    I put embarrassing

For all of the trash talk and KO promises he threw 11 punches a round never went the KO. Ruiz went into the trenches and fought the big man on the inside I gave it to Ruiz in the first fight 9-3 and Chagaev won by staying in the danger zone and countering and circling the giant. Haye won by using Valuevs physical limitations against him. Valuev being slow and clumsy was easy to pot shot and run away from. So he would land a few punches and when Valuev would get ready to fire back hed be on his bicycle.

The sad part is that Valuev looked hungryer and angryer than his last few performances and really tried to hunt Haye down and make him pay for the pre fight insults but Haye as no where to be found.

What I love is how he is deemed some sort of savior yet he fought more saftey first than Wlad ever has.

In a previous thread I scored it for Valuev cause I thought it was a fraud of a strategy

I dont usually go by the old fashioned statement you gotta take the title but you cant win by throwing 11 punches a round against a champion who is in hot pursuit throwing double or triple the output despite not landing which mostly had to do with hayes running

    This wins you a title?

If they ever rematch I hope Haye will stand in there and make it a fight, win or lose I would respect Haye more than for this victory

He had him very hurt in the 12th that should be more than enough confidence to be able to stand in there he may just be the first guy to KO the giant if he takes the rematch and fights with some bravdo

Yes, But Haye was a smaller man fighting safely against a large man. Wlad is a bigger stronger man who fights safely against smaller men. Fighting safely is not a bad thing, but it's easier to forgive a stately first approach when the opponent is a threat.

But At least Wlad actually fights every once and a while. Haye needs to get his but in the ring if he wants to keep any fans. Myself included.

I wouldn't go as far as saying smaller men can't be a threat. Wlad may box a taller, stronger boxer much more openly than a shorter, smaller guy.

Lennox boxed Tua very cautiously in a technical masterpiece. Lennox was the bigger man. Wlad got knocked out by Brewster, a smaller man.

Smaller vs. bigger means very little IMO. Haye was talking about ripping Valuev to shreds and knocking him out before the fight and when the first bell rang he was immediately running and potshotting. All this is good and fine to win, but it's an embarrassing performance if you consider his pre-fight talk.

I get why you are saying about a smaller man being dangerous too. Lewis vs Tua is a great example. Lewis was cautious but he still opened up, he moved, he threw combos...compared to an average Wlad fight, Lewis was way more aggressive. Again, being cautious vs a powerful puncher like Tua is understandable. Being cautious vs a non threatening guys like Eddie Chambers is less forgivable from an excitement standpoint. Like When Wlad is cautious against Peter, I will forgive it, because Peter punches kind of hard. I don't mean to bash Wlad in a thread that's about bashing Haye. But I guess it's not really about bashing as I happen to like him. I think he's a good fighter. I just wish he'd open up a bit more and sooner, especially against scrubs who can't fire back.

    I stopped reading here!:patsch

Please tell me how Dirrell didnt hurt Froch when the GIF shows? You try to make **** up as usual! Dirrell might didnt fight the best fight he could have fought but he held his own considering he was stepping up in Comp....He did a damn good job...And its far from the worst Championship performance...I take you didnt watch Sultan vs Wlad! You have the audacity to try to say it was Dirrell when its clearly more horrible fights than that!

    Get real!:verysad

Seriously, Valuev landed NOTHING! Not one meaningful powerpunch connected to Haye's chin, whereas Haye...

Haye did hardly anything but clearly enough to win as Valuev did even less.

Jeez. Just look at the arc of how he had to throw punches just to hit the big fella. Can any of you grasp how tiring that must be to punch up at a target like that with that sort of power. Especially if you miss.

    Haye/Valuev>>>>>> Ali/Liston

Clearly the greatest performance in heavyweight history. Given the skills, strategy, heart, and athleticism that he demonstrated that night, Haye would have humilated and knocked out any all time great heavyweight, he just had the bad luck of being in the ring against a very game and still nigh invulenerable Valuev.
