I like his defense, he slips punches very well and has great reflexes.

Julio- thats what I was thinking too.

Either Jones had great defense or there should never be another question about his chin in his prime. Which is it?

I agree with that except for the first part: Gamboa is the best prospect I have ever seen since Floyd Mayweather...

he's the best talent i've seen since floyd, not really seen a boxer like him before, slightly like roy jones i suppose, but he's his own boxer with his own unique style

I agree about his hands being too low, and he has a certain arogance that may not serve him against the elite.

He not only slips, but he rolls his shoulder well, covers with the right hands, and ducks punches. His raw talent is phenomenal.

Jones had a sick defence, almost impossible to hit flush.

Speed and reflexes are part of defense. Defense is not getting hit cleanly or not getting hit at all. If his reflexes and speed allowed for this, then it means he had a great defense.

Great speed and reflexes don't account for all of it, so it's a myth anyways. He would have to know where a punch was coming from (punch recognition) to get out of the way of it no matter how fast he was. Otherwise he would have dodged right into them. Punch recognition is also part of defense. The ONLY thing Jones didn't do was keep his hands up. He rolled with punches with the best of them.

Not being textbook doesn't equal not being good at something.

I won't, but on the same token, I won't let someone make a statement where the facts don't bear out what he's saying.

Gamboa, like Jones, is unorthodox. Guzman is as well, so was Whitaker defensively. Hard to hit flush because of reflexes and speed. This is still good defense, just not "proper" technique.

So what you're saying is "Jones never had a great defense, but he was great at making people miss"? It's silly how people don't think Jones in a great defensive fighter just because his D is uncoventional and he relied on insane talent. Jones was an incredible defensive fighter and his defense deserves an A+ score. Saying that Gamboa's defense is even comparable to a prime Jones' would be a huge compliment.

But to answer the original question:

Gamboa is the best prospect I have seen since nobody.. I became a hardcore boxing fan back in late 2006 and there's nobody that you can compare to Gamboa. To give a 1-10 rating, Gamboa is a 10.. where as Povetkin was a 7.5/8, Anthony Peterson is a 4.5/5, and Khan is a 3.5.

Gamboa is a combination between Guzman's offense at 122 (not similar foot movement when attacking, but similar quick , multi-angled combination punching and reflexive, awkward sharp counters) and Roy Jones' (not really.. Gamboa's defense is very unique and difficult to compare to fighters of the past) defense.

I understand and agree with your assesment on Jones. Its just that the Jones defense thing is a runaway train because there will always be someone who attacks him on the merit of his chin or his defense.

True statement. I will discuss it no more.

Gamboa is the best prospect I have seen since Jones BTW, who I think had a higher ceiling than Mayweather. I think Gamboa does as well.
