I think people are putting way too much into him absorbing Canelos punches. For as awesome as Canelo is, and as heavy as his hands are at 154.... the truth is, weight divisions and the size of the person you are punching matter a lot in boxing.... the people that Canelo has gained his image as a formidable puncher (and Im not saying hes some light puncher either) are not only not middleweights, but some of his most spectacular KO's come against fighters that are themselves fairly chinny. So while I am not saying Im not impressed with G taking those flush bombs from Canelo, I do take it in context. Theres no reason for me to believe that many other solid middleweight chins (non 10's) could also have taken those punches. Just imo
Im more impressed with the flush counter bomb he took from Jacobs (cant remember the round but I think it was late) than all the punches he took from Canelo combined. That showed me he had a legit legit chin.
Baldomir as shot to bits WELTER WEIGHT and never fought again after that fight. Punch power at welter weight does not = punch power at MW. Canelo's stoppage rate at MW is ZERO% Only a troll would bring Amir Khan into the argument.
It’s cast iron no doubt. The look at Canelo’s face after he landed that right hand from the backyard and Gennady didn't even flinch. Lol
Absolutely, the Jacobs fight really solidified it for me. He didn't take much from Lemieux but what he did take was eaten up. Those two (and for Lemieux's limitations) have very good power, so that's what sold me. They both hit harder than Canelo at 160 but all the same, that one huge counter in particular (which was a great shot) would have probably at worst shaken up a lot of dudes. The fight you mention below about him being slightly wobbled was Amari I think. And even that, I mean I wouldn't say he was properly hurt in all honesty
El Pollo landed his best right hand on Golovkin's chin and Golovkin did not even blink an eye!!!!!!! Same when Jacobs landed his best shot or anyone else!!!!!!!
