I've watched Lacy in the gym for an extended period. Only cruiserweights would spar with him. He hurt everyone else. Also, even doing the pads with trainers, they had to wear special braces, and even then, in very little time, they all had elbow injuries.

Lacy's power is easily within the top 5% of World Class boxers, he is a 9-9.5 in my opinion.

He seems a lot like Sam Peters :yep . Great natural power, but can't really deliver it effectively due to limited technique. It's harder to tell with him cause he really doesn't have a lot of fights against top opposition.

You've done what Jeff Lacy can't do and hit the nail on the head there.

Lacy is a strong fighter..period he is strong up top and his base is strong. He does not have the quote unquote "pop"(speed and power combination) like say a mike tyson. He has raw power so I consider him a hard puncher. But he does not have the punch speed. But I can see him bruising the crap out of sparring partners though. Lacy is not going to knock you out cold. But he is going to beat the hell out of you until you dont want no more.

Its good no doubt, I am also of the opinion thats its overrated.

A lot of people thought he was a top p4p puncher but he barely makes the top20 IMO.
I think people underrate his handspeed actually, which has a lot to do with his KO percentage also.

Fact of matter is he struggled to put away chinny guys like Rubin Williams and Donell Wiggins and was unable to put away guys like Richard Grant and Ross Thompson.

His best display of power IMO was against the usally iron chinned Robin Reid but you could tell from the start that Reid was not the fighter he was and didnt really want to be there from about the 3rd round on.

I feel the thing is with Lacy is that unlike a lot of fighters he can keep his power throughout the fight. You see a lot of big hitters loose their pop when they tire but Lacy is pretty strong throughout.
