Now that Amir Khan has officially retired, how do you rate him as a fighter? I think he was B-level at best. He had hand speed, but not much else. His chin, defense, footwork and ring IQ were awful.
Elite handspeed and good feet were enough for him to have the career he had He never moved on from his amateur style but his trainers probably reinforced that anyway; work with your best tools and refine them. Don't be something you're not. An amazing overachiever. Grade B is very fair.
Great handspeed and big heart but also fragile chin, low boxing IQ, and also one dimensional. Despite his major issues that would repeatedly haunt him in his later fights he was still a very fun fighter to watch and he never backed down. Fought with tremendous courage and wasn't afraid to fight anyone. Overall he made the most of his abilities. B-fighter at best.
Khan was a fighter with lightning fast hands, but no ring IQ. He was a good fighter, but WELL short of elite.
Could have been an all-time great but never learned proper fundamentals, just a C-grade fighter, really bad compared to world class fighters, it`s a shame.
Considering the list of fighters that he's been in the ring with, especially the ones that beat him, you really have to admire some of the names his resume. Win or lose he always did his best. Breidis Prescott Marco Antonio Barrera Paulie Malignaggi Marcos Maidana Zab Judah Lamont Peterson Danny Garcia Luis Collazo Devon Alexander Chris Algieri Canelo Alvarez Terence Crawford Kell Brook
Slightly over rated. His belts flattered him, the two times he fought the best in the division he was knocked out.
Given the quality of his chin, he really needed to adapt his style accordingly. He was too aggressive for that chin
The highlights of Amir Khans career Getting KO'd by Breidis Prescott in 50 seconds The whole Danny Garcia event (Angel Garcia mentally destroying him, Danny KO'ing him) Quitting like a coward from a leg punch by Terence Crawford (when he even had 5 minutes to recover) Getting caught masturbating on Skype Accusing Anthony Joshua of cheating on his wife Getting KO'd brutally by Canelo Alvarez looking like he was dead on the floor Ducking Kell Brook like the plague using every lie and excuse possible for 10 years The embarrassing obsession and non stop pursuit of Floyd Mayweather Losing to the mediocre Lamont Peterson and blaming it on a man in a hat Lying about Sparring Andre Ward Getting destroyed by Kell Brook in a one sided beatdown after ducking him for 10 years after suddenly becoming interested in him when he was shot.
