Rahmans punch started back in the cheap seats! It was a wild haymaker. The one you dream of landing but rarely do.

 

It also comes from getting knocked down by natural LHWs and obese bartenders and nearly getting KOed by a middleweight.

Fair play to him, he made a successful career of it. But his chin was nowhere near great.

 

A good chin. 7 or so. Getting dropped hard by 2 shots by B level heavies can't be ignoreod.

I've been watching boxing since the mid 70's and Lewis' chin was about a 7 maybe even a 7.5.

If you ever did you'd know it's the punch you don't see coming that gets you. And that's what happened in the McCall fight.

 

Those shots McCall and Rahman landed on Lennox would've retired Wlad and KOed Vitali

Especially the Rahman thunderbolt ... Corrie Sanders (Wlad's master) said that Rahman was the biggest puncher he ever faced and that Wlad couldn't even hurt him

Lewis didn't hit the deck once from anything Vitali threw, the man with the legendary KO% as you shitschko lickers like to claim, yet Wlad gets dropped by any good, clean landing punch

 

Slightly above average, maybe a 6. Not terrible but not great either. Lewis definitely wasn't like Holyfield, Tua or Tyson in the chin department.

Ike I. would have KO'd Lewis in a similar fashion to Byrd had he not gone crazy.

 

I doubt that they would've retired them. Both brothers, especially Wlad, have shown admirable resiliency in coming back from defeat. Unless you're talking about permanent injuries, which is rather rare from single shots.

The shot that Rahman threw was a huge shot though, reminiscent of Shavers vs Holmes.

I like to think I'm a pretty impartial fan; I generally try to view fighters as objectively as possible, without letting personal bias get in the way. That can sometimes be difficult when discussing Lennox and the Klitschkos in the same thread. So often it's a case of one or the other. I happen to think Lennox had a very good chin indeed, but I also think Wlad's isn't nearly as bad as it's made out. He certainly doesn't get "dropped by any good, clean landing punch" or he would have been dropped by Brewster (rematch), Peter (rematch) and Haye about three times.

 

Below average for a champion. I dont think there has ever been a heavyweight champion who was left splattered on the canvas by not one but two journeymen.

 

Lennox's main problem was complacency. In the modern heavyweight division, even an average journeyman can leave you flat on their back if you don't take them seriously. Lennox was guilty of committing that sin twice. But he also atoned (in my opinion) by fighting and beating a whose who of some of the biggest punchers the heavyweight division has ever seen.

 

Are you implying that journeymen today are somehow bigger punchers than those of the past?

 

I wouldn't call either Rahman or McCall journeymen in the first place. Even if you did, it wouldn't take away from the fact that they were extremely hard punchers.
