Well he doesn't fight everybody that he needs to fight . . . but his competition is not bad at all. Problem is, he is too good reason why when he fights even a title holder people sees it as no match for him. :yep
He has fought very good opponents but never the best in the division the has been in. He is rated the best welterwieght and I will not argue with that assumption but who has he fought there that could have been rate number 1? I think it is the same through out his career, constanstly being called the number one guy in a weight class but not fighting the real danger men. Great record though and stieasily comparable with anyone you can care to mention.
atsch Oh lmy god, why do people continue with this nonsense, do you hate Floyd so much that you have to substitute reality with these lies? Let me break it down for you, we'll start at 130, here Floyd cleaned out, in other words, he fought everybody worth fighting. Then he moved up to 135 and beat the best (Castillo twice), at 140 he didn't fight the best because Hatton wasn't ready, he is now of course. At 147 Zab Judah was the undisputed champ, he held three belts (IBF, WBA, WBC), and a fight with Floyd had pretty much already been arranged. But out of nowhere Baldomir comes along and beats Zab, and was therefore "the man" untill Floyd beat him, Floyd even fought Zab afterwards to seal the deal... So in other words if Floyd beats Hatton in a month he will have beaten the best at 130, 135, 140 and 147... I'm tired of seeing these haters accusing Floyd of cherry picking his opponents, it's ridiculous, the facts state otherwise.
Melo, if he beats hatton in a month, that DOES NOT mean he has beaten the best at 147. He damn sure didnt beat the best at 140. For starters Hatton may be in over his head at 147. Floyd should have fought him at 140, although I believe Floyd beats him either way. Now at 147, Hatton is at the bottom of the barrel. Mosley, Cotto, Kermit, Williams, and possibly both Margarito and Judah are better than Hatton.
What are you talking about? Floyd is "the man" at 147, because he beat "the man" (Baldomir) who beat "the man" (Judah). In other words how can he not have beaten the best at 147 when he IS the best, the man, the ring champion or whatever you wanna call it... Mosley, Cotto, Kermit, Williams etc. are the ones who haven't beaten the best, Floyd has... And Hatton is the best at 140 even though the fight takes place at 147, he will still have beaten the best from 140...
its an over-rated resume. once he beats undefeated fighters at there peak like hatton, cotto, and williams then he can be considered a great. the only fighter he has beat that hadn't already been whooped before was corrales.
Floyd has a very good resume. He has beaten 'the man' in and been undisputed champ in at least 3 different weight classes. 130, 135, and 147. Was DLH recognised champ at 154? I can't remember, but if he was that's 4, which says it all. Beating Hatton at 147 doesnt mean he gets the champ status at 140 however, if he did then his resume would be great.
Melo, everyone here knows that Baldomir was not the man. He was just in a great place at the right time. All the top welters right now would drag Baldomir. Yes, it is true that Hatton is the best at 140, but they are not fighting at 140, where hatton has a better chance, if any chance at all.
After Hatton, Mosley-Cotto winner would be the only big name left. Williams or Cintron? Williams needs much more experience and good wins. Cintron is a fringe contender that became lucky.
How the hell are you going to dispute facts, Baldomir was the man at 147, that's not my freaking opinion that's just the FACTS. He beat Judah who was undisputed champ at the time end of story, how well he would do against other fighters at 147 is completely irrelevant. And why on earth would Hatton have a better chance fighting at 140? Floyd started at 130, he never drained himself to make that, that's his "real" weight class. He only weighed 148 at fight time against Oscar at 154, Hatton usually weighs more than that at 140...
