LOL at the pacwhore. Anyway..this was not rated highly to me b/c this is probably the best version of Mayweather that I have ever seen even better than the Corrales version. Against Gatti..lol. This fight was criminal. It was ****ing brutal. I still cant really watch it often. I would think you to be sick in the head to watch this fight like that.

If you dont use the jab against Floyd or dont get low you are done. Thats why I know he beats that catfish's ass. Pac's jab is not that good and is easily countered.

I wonder why Merchants had it in for Mayweather all these years. Same with Hopkins.

It was a great performance against a good, but shop-worn fighter.

Insignificant victory as far as Mayweather's career is concerned, but he couldn't have done a better job with the execution.

Toopretty, Merchant will forever be more intelligent and quotable than Floyd, who should just stick to throwing his fists.

    It was AIGHT.

The only reason it was okay, was because of how he domnated Gatti. Gatti hadn't been dominated like that since the DLH fight.

McGirt had changed Gatti's style completely, and the PLAN was to BOX Mayweather!!!! Just based on that I knew Gatti was going to get dominated...Really Buddy, BOX the BOXER?????:patsch

Good win but an ATG performance. I was here back then when that fight was happening and let me tell you there were a lot of posters who thought Gatti was too big and was going to walk through PBF and KO him. There was even a poll here before the fight and it was about 60-40 PBF. In hindsight it is seen as a mismatch but before the fight people actually had it much closer and gave Gatti a good chance in this fight.

It didn't matter what gameplan Gatti had he still would have been schooled. Quit hating and give the man some credit.:-( It was a sensational performance.

These said performances occur when one outstanding fighter put's on a dazzling display against a fellow great fighter, not a past prime B- level combatant.

I couldn't agree more. Oscar was so much bigger than Gatti and just rolled over him. PBF just took him apart with laser like precision rarely seen in this sport since.

Agreed. It's easy to dominate and stop past-prime second tier opponents when you are an elite fighter. For me an all-time great performance is something like Pac's performance against Cotto. That was something very special against a quality opponent. I'd also say that Mayweather's performance against Hatton was more impressive for me. Tactically it was perfect, he nullified Hatton's work for the first 6 rounds then when he sensed Hatton was tiring he began to open up more and pick him apart. Hatton didn't fight well, he fought like an idiot in fact, but at least he was an opponent who could offer something, which Gatti simply couldn't.

Then what's your stance on Calzaghe-Lacy then? Gatti was a more accomplished boxer than Lacy ever was.
