Yeah, Floyd might have said that Gatti was a D-level fighter, but not many other people believed it at the time.

It's only since Floyd handed out this disgusting beatdown to him that people say he was no good/he was finished etc.

The fight is also testimony to people who say he has no power and can't hurt or finish fighters

Are you seriously saying that nobody thought Gatti was well short of world class before he fought Mayweather? Seriously? Did people really ignore all those defeats against fellow B- fighters and the hammerings he got from anyone remotely world class?

A LOT of people thought Gatti would win. That he would maul Floyd and overpower him etc.

He went into the Mayweather fight off the back of 5 straight wins, (incl. 2 over Ward) and in the 12 fights before he only lost twice (once to Ward and once to ODLH)

I never said Oscar didnt dominate Gatti dope. Looks like you not only lack reading comprehension, but even basic level reading is way past your abilities.

I said DLH didnt dominate like Floyd did. If you had bothered to make it through school you'd have known that I said Floyd's domination was different in that it was a technical demolition comparatively to Oscar just walking straight through Gatti because he was the bigger man.

Because you lack reading comprehension, I dont know if you're stupid or ignorant, but I clearly said that in terms of opponents beaten it probably doesnt rank in the top 7 or 8. In terms of masterclass, I even compared it to Ali over an average Cleveland Williams, yet you still dont get it.

But then again, if you cant appreciate Floyds performance regardless of how you rate Gatti, you just dont understand the sport.

    A good win. Nothing more.

He was the best available title holder at the time.

A belt, the best available champion.

Far from great, but a good win.

This has been too easy, i hope you're warm sat there in my back pocket. Enjoy finishing off that box of Kleenex with your Floyd box-set and have a nice evening.

    Disagree.

Best available champion at the time.

Gatti was on a win streak, was thought to have the chance to overpower Floyd down with a jab (I thought the jab is how you beat Mayweather ?)

    Good win. Not insignificant.

In hindsight its easy to say that Gatti was tailor made for Floyd and that's why Floyd looked so great but before the fight many thought Gatti could make it competitive cause of Floyd struggles early on against Demarcus Corley and some people still had the first Castillo fight fresh on their minds. But overall it was a good win and I voted as such.

Exactly. Just as people say the best ever version of Ali was the one who fought Williams.

I rate Floyd at 140 as the best version. He was still active, but wasnt as raw as he was at 130 and 135.

too bad the Zoo fight never came off that would have proved it.

Would of been a great fight.

But, it could never happen. Impossible to make at that time.

Gatti was regarded as the worst of the champions at 140 at the time by everyone not resident in the US.

"Floyd himself said Gatti was a C-Level fighter"

For once I agree with Floyd Gayweather! I loved Gatti but he really had little talent.

Best available. Plus, after watching Corley catch Cotto. I'd say Gatti had a good chance against the drained 140 Cotto.

But like I said, best available champion. A good win. Nothing more.

It would of been nice if the zoo fight could of happened but at the time, impossible.

    The win was insignificant.

Gatti won the belt from the corrupt organization. He won it by beating a guy who hasn't fought a meaningful fight close to 2 years.

Gatti was to small, to slow, and way way beyond past his prime. This fight just meant Floyd got another belt. Other then that it really meant nothing.
