The choices were made by H2H-level and if a fighters was able to win a title.

Cleveland Williams, as well as Carl Williams had both two losses when they faced Tyson and Liston, and both did not achieve winning a title afterwards. They were comparable in size and level at that point.

Driver and Westphal were at least both comparable in size, they were both at no relevant H2H-level anyway. Doesn´t matter that much.

Both Ribalta and Folley had 3 losses at that point of their career. At least you have to find something these fighters have in common and rate them H2H.

The same choice was made for replacing Machen, who never won anything relevant (like Biggs), at least fought one time for the title. Thats why I didn´t want to replace him with a fighter who was a champion at one time. Both Machen and Biggs fought only one time for the title, and someone could argue they were comparable H2H, imho I think Biggs had more potential.

By approaching such a project, you are able to gather in more detail what both fighters accomplished and you can try to equal and weight their achievements. By doing so, you can for example replace bad opponents from A for good opponents from B and check if the resumes adjust (minumum - maximum principle).
By doing so, you can easily see that the achievements can still not match, whoever you are trying to replace. Or you might be able to equal both of them.

What does it tell you? If you are trying to put the best opponents from A into the resume, or better call it "frame", from fighter B, and fighters Bs resume does still not look better than fighter A, you have to be pretty sure that you can´t rate B better than A.

For example you had to put the champions Tyson fought in the place of King, Besmanoff and Valdes and still see that Listons resume can not reach the level of dominance Tyson achieved.
Specific for comparing Liston, who is often regarded for not getting a chance to fight for the title earlier.

It doesn´t take much time. A least less time than posting tons of posts in Rocky Marciano/Jack Dempsey vs. George Foreman/Ibeabuchi threads....

1- your thread is based on a fantasy situation and makes no sense
2- if you did read all these posts on these threads was because you was there too.
You got a lot of free time
