please. just because you are stopped doesnt mean you have a weak chin. his chin was what kept him in the game so long with his not so tight defence. buster douglas wasnt light hitting he could clearly crack especially with the peach of a right uppercut...and in that douglas landed a 5 hit combo before he was knocked down...and in that mike got up but was stopped on his feet. holyfield countered the hell out of him. and then got caught with a big right cross to the jaw. also stopped on his feet. lewis a terrerific puncher lands his sweetest uppercuts and could'nt get rid of him...broke his hand on mikes head if i remember, he was clearly putting alot of weight on to his punch absolute picture perfects punches and still mike was there.when he was spent and finished lewis threw a looping right hand around tysons guard and bundled him to the mat. he was on a knee and misread the count if anything and got up as soon as the count finished. williams took 25 odd big punches flush before he fell. and we all know the story it was becuase of his knee that he couldnt get out the way of danny's punches. chin was not his problem it was when he was manhandled did he start to look pathetic and defenceless.
surely thats not a case of him being not able to turn a fight around becuase he wouldnt get floored by a flash knockdown. he was knocked down when he was completly flat footed and exhausted ala holyfield, douglas, lewis. only then was he takign the major damage.
How many times was he really knocked out? Rarely was it ever his chin that gave out, and only one of the knockouts against him came in his prime. All in all the man had a really good chin, not many Heavyweights can take the "Smash" full blast and live to tell about it, Tyson did and never went down from them.
yeah. i'd give it an 8. his chin wasn't cast iron. u could crack him. :yep good though. similar to hatton's chin for me. keep chopping and you'll get him in the end. :bbb
losses against Williams and McBride were more about the lack of love for fighting/old age/past his prime rather than being K.O'd. Douglas caught him with some beastly punches and he just about got to his feet. In his prime he was hit hard and never even moved. VERY GOOD CHIN! A. Not A+ like Chuvalo, but A. IMO anyways
yeah right misread the count he was taking a beating and could ave got up but he decided he didn't want to get beaten any more, In terms of chin althougth tyson was ni mccall he certainly had a pretty solid chin, better than alot of other atg heavyweights.
Tyson Got the **** kicked out of him by Douglas that night, as for Holy he stopped an exausted, rusty Tyson ON HIS FEET, Tyson does not have a glass jaw, if a fighter gets dominated well enough they will be stopped most of the time.
I can't believe the number of people who say he had a great chin .Obviously he didn't have a glass jaw.
