1. Agree with, could probably argue others. But that is respectable 2. Should be GGG. Clearly beat Nelo. 4. Thurman isn't nearly that good, should probably be below Loma and Mikey Garcia 5.See above 6.See above 7.Decent placement, I still think Brook was more skilled, but spence is probably more skilled than anyone else in the division 8.Badou, he probably is worth mentioning but you could put someone else here and bump him down a few 9.Jermall is a decent pick but as a middleweight I'm not sure how he will do 10.Jermell hasn't done as much as jermall. Right now boxing is in a weird place. I'd also say that Sergey Kovalev still shouldn't be written off. He is actually much better than GGG IMO (or at least was, not sure if he will have the same desire after being ripped off like that 2x and being a victim of boxing corruption). Sergey would be on top of the world if the judges had gotten the first fight correct. Depending on how he looks in his next fight you might need to consider moving him in.
Loma isn't high for not dominating someone he wasn't expected to...must not have been around here for the Walters fight. And yet Garcia is at 5 for dominating Broner!? Charlos are 9 and 10 for being hottest up and coming but yet in another post you said Inoue, Rigo, Usyk etc shouldn't be rated because of what we *think* they do to people!? Man honestly it is so inconsistent
True. I actually agree with you on Rig. I forgot just how inactive he’s been and he hasn’t looked great either. Inoue has been active and dominant against good opposition. So have the Charlo bros but they’ve been in the pro longer to accomplish what Inoue has accomplished in a fraction of the time
Honestly this list is terrible. I'm not being bias as I'm fans of most of the people on the list, the fact that you don't even have Rigo on the list is insane. It's crazy and it's hard to take the list seriously after that first point. Bud and Loma I'm fine with but then you have Badou Jack on the list who's biggest win is a draw and he was knocked goofy by a journeyman only 3 years ago(and he never even avenged it). Golovkin again, no issue, Spence and Thurman (probably my favorite active fighter) I have no problem with being on the list, but objectively they'd be 9-10. Canelo I question why he's even on the list as he arguably has losses against the 4 best fighters he's fought (Trout, Lara, Floyd, Golovkin). Garcia I'm fine with, the Charlos (again I'm a fan), have both shown glimpses but don't deserve a spot yet (especially over Rigo, Inoue, Kovalev and a few others.
People are simple minded... the p4p list has turned into an inamaginary chart that people with little showings or case for greatness get to benefit from boxing writers opinions and simple fans echo the writers. Rigo has 2 fights in 2 1/2 years against nobodies. It’s not totally his fault but I can’t put him on the list for beating people he hasn’t fought yet. If so might as well make Errol Spence #1 cause I’m pretty sure he’d KO every single welterweight in the top 10 Inoue has like 17 fights mostly against no names. Again. Why are we crediting people for fights that haven’t happened yet? Everyone wanted to assign inoue a spot for the fact that he could probably beat Roman Gonzalez. Well it never happened so why does he deserve a spot? Some people saying usyk and kovalev and I have the same answers. Especially for usyk. Kov I like but there are other fighters who are simply hotter and kicking more ass then kovalev.
The are always simple minded folks in every area but much of the p4p rankings reflect the perception of the masses, not just due to the influence of the sports writers. Much of the time the sports writers are influenced by the public. To be fair to Inoue....he’s in a weight class that doesn’t garner much attention from the Boxing world. In order to get attention in the lower weight classes you have to be something truly special which Inoue seems to be. It doesn’t mean the talent or depth of the division is weak, just under appreciated. I don’t believe his status as a p4p fighter has anything to do with credit for fights that have yet to happen, rather than his body of work in such a short period of time with a very impressive launch as a pro. He has faced very stiff competition as a green blue chip prospect creating a trajectory that rivals Loma. Kovalev drops spots on the p4p rankings due to his losses to Ward....albeit controversially in both fights. Had he lost convincingly he most likely wouldn’t even be on the list. The Charlo bros are well on their way to breaking into the rankings but they haven’t done enough. Jamal probably is closer with a slightly better resume although Jermell has been more active. They’ve both been pretty dominant against Good opposition but haven’t beaten any great fighters. People who have them in the p4p rankings seem to be looking to give them credit for fights that haven’t happened yet.
