Proven against who? I think he's a dud who hasn't been fighting live opponents. I therefore am not willing to put him in my top 10. I don't have a problem with those who do but please don't tell me he's a top 5 guy b/c he obviously isn't. I'm okay with the other guys in my top 10 b/c they've been willing and able to take on guys who stand a chance of beating them. Kownacki & Breazeale were big outsiders in their last starts, Ruiz went close to winning a belt & Miller is probably better than all them (imo).
I'd still consider him top ten, just about. More due to the fact that there isn't anyone I'd firmly put in his place. But no way should he be above Parker in any sense. His best win of the last few years is Chisora. Chisora isn't any better, and likely worse, than Carlos Takam, plus Parker has Ruiz and Fury on his resume to boot. Also a one sided blowout of Dimitrenko, though that's nothing to write home about. H2H Parker would also be favoured to beat him.
I've got no problem with anyone having Pulev in their top 10. Personally I don't for the reasons I've given, but yes, the win against Chisora is probably better than the best wins of some others.
His win against Chisora is decent on paper, but the manner in which he did it was very Wlad-esque. Excessive clinching to shut Chisora down on the inside, using his height and reach on the outside to rack up points. Frankly I find that a disgusting and manipulative way to win a fight, but Chisora knew what he was getting into going over there so I don't feel totally sorry for him. Aside from that Pulev has wins over a balloon-like retired Sam Peter who threw out his arm in the second or third round because he was so out of shape, a shop-soiled Kevin Johnson whom he failed to hurt (Chisora even managed that), Maurice Harris in what looked suspiciously like a dive, and a short punching bag from Brazil in George Arias whom he still had to clinch excessively to beat. His resume has been woeful, and were it not for the win over Chisora I'd have him out of the top ten in a heartbeat. For anyone to have him over Parker is ludicrous. I'd barely even have him over Carlos Takam myself.
A limited basic talent in soley skill. His biggest attribute is probably heart and then speed. After that its down hill bc one of two things is going on. 1. Barry is not that good a trainer. 2. Or Parker is far from a natural fighter and is going to peak very soon? Ive always believed Izu who was/is another Barry fighter was the better of the two,i believe i will be proven right. Rating him right now? One would have to rank him around 6 in what weve seen so far, very good but not top 5 .
Not top 10 for mine. Very limited and has arguably lost his last two fights. Lost to blokes who would border on top 10. So Parker probably sits around 15.
Well he's struggled in his last 3 fights against B level opposition (C- level in the case of the Romanian bloke) so to me he's not top 5. The potential is there but he absolutely must improve his footwork which looks like he is walking with comment boots on.
I thought he had potential but the Fury fight was to me a step back, he has flaws that will be fatal against a puncher unless he improves
Wake up this morning & Parker is fighting Joshua in July 2018 (supposedly). Looks like those Kiwis are in a hurry. By my reckoning, Parker has time for one, maybe two more fights before then. I reckon bounce that Jap's head off the canvas next & probably wait for Joshua. If he wants another, Jennings in the US first half of next year. While I'm okay with them developing Parker slowly, if the opportunity's there for a shot at all the marbles (well most of them), I think you take it.
